When FFP came calling at LR and we went to arbitration, I wondered on WATRB about challenging them at CAS instead. It was inevitable that FFP was headed right there. Just because our version is administered by the EFL would not have disbarred us from going down that route.
Depending on the detailed judgement this could have serious FFP ramifications.
I've heard that the big prem sides want UEFA to appeal the CAS decision precisely because they favour the retention of FFP. They recognise that FFP protects the big boys club, just like I always said.
It's in their interest to support UEFA.
All FFP has done is cement the status quo. It keeps the poor in their place while appearing to protect them.

Could we have challenged in the same way as seems a bit odd and wrong that they appeal and get a chicken feed fine and we basically stand still as a club for 10 to 15 years

I'm not a lawyer but both sides have to agree to any form of arb for it to go ahead.
I'm sure if we'd insisted on CAS doing the arbitrating, the EFL would have had to agree, as UEFA introduced FFP in the first place and CAS are the gold standard of sports arbs in Europe. So EFL could hardly refuse such a request without looking even more iffy.
It's impossible to know whether that route would have delivered a more successful outcome for the club, but it would certainly have thrust the EFL's management of FFP under greater scrutiny and the detailed judgement would have been in the public domain.
There's a lot about the way the club handled the FFP case that we simply don't know about. If they appoint their briefs in the same way they've appointed everyone else you do wonder....
