Nice win. Facking cold, though. Rode our luck second half, but that piece of magic by Eze and Ilias of the Rovers deserved to win the game. Take a bow, Dom Ball. He was immense all game.

That felt really weird tonight, you just knew we were going to blow it - then we didn't. Rooney was bound to score following the piss taking - then he didn't. Some of our movement and tempo of play was outstanding.

Yes we rode our luck a bit at times. Ball(who was good overall) gave it away needlessly, and Barbet took the yellow, that lead to the Waghorn freekick fired just over. Not to mention the sitter he missed at the end. On the other hand with a bit more composure, we could have put a couple of chances away ourselves. But we say that after almost every game  |

just got back in, absolutely great game at times. i said before that maybe it's just a coincidence that we've picked up more points when barbet plays as opposed to when he doesn't but in fairness he really bossed the defence today and looks like a solid unit alongside hall. eze had a quiet game for the most part but did pull off some excellent touches with the ball throughout the game and grew into it as the game went on, same goes for bos.
was excited to see clarke getting some time to make an impact and i thought he did well in his 20 or so minutes on the pitch. lovely finish from chair to give us the 3 points though!

Just back and in the second half I witnessed some of the finest, most skilled football I have seen in 55 odd years of going to watch the R's Some of the backheels and flicks between Eze & Chair were other wordly. BOS was a beast tonight as was Geoff Cameron. When you see the way BOS, Eze & Chair all play off each other you can see why Hugill doesn't get the goals you feel he ought to, he just isn't in the same ballpark technically as those three and it doesn't suit his style of play. That isn't a criticism of him tonight as he wasn't lacking in effort but we don't play to his strengths. When I saw Ryan Manning was matched up with Waghorn my heart sank as he (Waghorn) has a decent record against us and Ryan is not the best defender but tonight, I am eating my words. He had a very good match and did enough to keep Waghorn from causing us any problems in open play. I am much more impressed with tonight's win than the Stoke win as it was a tough match that could have gone either way but the whole team played its part in making sure the three points stayed in West London.

If, big IF, we keep BOS, Eze and Chair next season then we need a clever striker rather than a CF - but I would love to keep Hugill (prob can't afford him I know) as a good option as I like his attitude and effort, good team man, plus there will be times when a physical presence will be necessary. Never a £10m player. Madness.

We turn up expecting the game to be awful and arrive with a mindset that it's just a night out away from the misuss or to socialise. We didn't play amazingly well last night - though there were some great passages of play - so it's hard to shift the mindset. And it was cold which never helps because people just spend the whole game wondering how soon they can be in the pub afterwards or back in the car/train and the warmth. |
