That I first went through the turnstiles in the Loft as a 9 year old, watched Rodney score a hat trick.

Quality mate , i missed the 70s ,you must have some amazing memories Vespa thank you, yes, more memories than you can shake a stick at, it were truly a great time to be a Queens Park Rangers supporter, just a shame I missed Wembley in 67, but my dad was a Fulham supporter.

Shouldn't you of been working in mill or something at 9 in Victorian Times dave There were no mills in Hammersmith, that’s a Lancashire thing, so chimney sweeping was the career of choice in West London, soot everywhere.

My favourite Rangers player is Dave Thomas, what a player, I remember him making his debut against Sunderland in 72.

Bit of an unfortunate typo there Corbs ;-) In answer to your question, most of the 75/76 side had almost God-like status to me as a boy. Parkes, Clement, Gillard, McClintock, Webb, Francis, Bowles, Masson, Thomas, Givens in particular. And Dave Sexton of course. Had the privilege of being at every home game of that dream-like season. Indelibly stamped memories.

One abiding memory was against West Ham in September 73, I was right at the front of the Loft by the left hand post, stood no more than 3 or 4 yards away was the late great Bobby Moore, he was going mental at his team mates as we were ripping them to pieces.
We had 20 plus shots in an amazing 0-0 draw, all to the strains of thousands of West Ham fans in the Loft singing “we’re forever blowing bubbles”.

I cannot remember my first game, especially as for years I thought it was the Tony Ingham Testimonial against an England World CUp XI but that was after the LC Final, and I know I definitely went to that. It must have been August/ early September 1966 as I was on school holidays and my mates dad who worked at CAV started taking us to games that season. I didn't see all the home games that season we were promoted but it would have been close to half of them ending up with the victorious trip to Wembley. The following season saw my first ever away trip, to Birmingham and we lost 2 or 3 nil. I have visited around 85 away grounds following the R's and the only significant chunk of games I missed was when I was living and working in the US where I could only get back for 3-4 a season. Since 2006 I was going home and away to nearly every game but since my step daughter died suddenly at Christmas 2016 I have knocked the away travel on the head to spend more time with my wife at weekends.

Very sorry to hear that mate. Puts qpr and everything else into perspective. Thanks James. I was close to knocking football on the head completely but before he first game after it happened I was stood outside the ground debating whether I really felt like going in or not and literally tears running down my face when Joe Hylton (Joe le taxi), who some of you may know, and his wife Kath saw me and sat with me for about thirty minutes whilst I got some of it off my chest. There were several others that day who took the time to make me feel a bit better and I realised then that I may only know these people from watching QPR over the years but they as true friends as anyone could wish for and were there when I needed someone.

A very moving story Esox. I used to know Joe and Kath, but I've only seen them from a distance more recently, not had a chat with them for ages. I'm glad to hear the Rangers family looked after you on that day mate. This thread got me thinking to my first game and funnily enough it's almost exactly 45 years ago. It was March 15th 1975 v Man City and we won 2-0. I went with my school mate Alan Chisholm who swore that Don Shanks was his cousin. In the days before the internet, you could get away with BS like that a lot more easily. Needless to say I was highly dubious, and asked how come we had to pay to get in then?!

Another memory was Dave Webb’s last minute winner against Stoke in 75/76, the Loft went absolutely potty.
The Naughty 40 were not pleased.
