Although not seen him covering live matches Steven Warnock ex Liverpool is very knowledgable about the modern game and its tactics.
Normally seen going back over the weekend Premiership matches and referee decisions around Monday lunchtime on Sky.

What about commentators? Most of them are so bad I can barely listen, and some are literally unlistenable and I actuallly turn the sound off. Again, as with the selection of pundits, it's easier to say who I rate, rather than the rest who are goddamn awful to a man and woman (Vicki Sparks being the worst of all, a kind of strangled shriek that's like nails down a blackboard).
Conor McNamara I like, a great commentator who lets the game flow without constant asides and interruptions to waffle on about obscure stats (Jonathan Pearce drives me nuts, farting on whilst the game is in progress), and a nice voice to listen to. Ian Darke is probably the only other one I like. The rest are either dour Northern cliché-mongers, ridiculous exaggerators or stating the bleedin' obvious merchants (or all three), and that includes Darren Fletcher, Guy Mowbray and Simon Brotherton. |

I am beginning to do this as well,depending on the commentator i mute him or her (ffs)as well. I always DO it for formula 1 that Ford and Brundle do my head in. But Formula 1 has lost all creditbility in my opinion after the fiasco last season,safety car rules and the yanks having got hold of it now.. Hopefully come Monday mad Max will have only 1 world championship for this season as last season was one of the most horrendous decision ever mad in sport courtesy of Mr Massi, |

Danny Murphy on MOTD 2 excellent analysis. As I said at the start of this thread, he's the only one I rate. All the other MOTD pundits - Shearer, Wright, Richards, Jenas are highly irritating, special mention for the world's most monotonous, Ashley Williams.

Jimmy Armfield (rip) was superb, calm collected and spotted everything.
I've heard Pulis a couple of times, he knows his stuff.
Karen Carney is the best female pundit imo.

Wrighty's always good, quite like Micah Richards, but his laugh does grate a bit (think he may put it on a bit too much at times...).
Danny Murphy's decent, if a bit dry.
I find Shearer too dull - and amazed how much he's paid.
Big shout out for Nedum Onuoha - always intelligent, well spoken, interesting and I like his dry sense of humour.
