The lowest paid doing the hard graft should be paid before anyone. Don’t see why the vast majority of players simply don’t come out and say they don’t need paying until things get back to normal, provided that they all get an appropriate contract extension. And now would be a good time to have a serious discussion about how to remove agents from the sport.

The money is so much in prem putting staff on furlough is sheer greed as they earn more then enough to remain sustainable for this period. If they can’t then there are clubs in prem who must be close to going under

If they can’t then there are clubs in prem who must be close to going under I see it would take about 0.01% of bloke running spurs fortune to keep their 550 non playing staff paid for the next few months These people should organise a matchday strike once things up and running again

I just posted on another thread that Brentford players have agreed to defer up to 50% of their wages following a meeting of the senior players. The rest of the squad agreed post meeting. Hope the meeting was via Zoom or conference call!

Hope the meeting was via Zoom or conference call! nice gesture but defer means they expect money at a later date. If season is pulled clubs won’t make the money back lost these weeks so the problem is just put off until another day

Isn’t there a furlough cap of around £2700 per month. If that’s the case why the fuck would clubs paying their players £300,000 a month plus even bother to sign up for it. Greedy fuckers and it’s money the average joe will take the hit for through higher taxes and reduced investment in services.
Edit. The cap is £2500. They’re even greedier than I first thought.

The club is planning for there to be no additional income for 12 months and is trying to keep sustainable during this time. I guess the major worry must be installments due on player sales to other clubs. Will they be able to pay. Maupay to Brighton, Hogan / Konsa to Villa, Jota, Dean & Colin to Brum, Woods to Stoke etc etc. The rest of this seasons home games were fully pre-sold and circa 7000 new season tickets sold at the new stadium including 3,000 premium seats so hopefully we'll be OK.

I think Daniel Levy should be held up as a shining example of this. Slashing staff wages, whilst pocketing a £3 million pound bonus for delivering an over budget and massively delayed stadium.

Ashley was the first to exploit this situation with Levy following suit. Spurs turn over 300 million a year so really do not get how they are allowed to do this. The PL should encourage each club to get their first team squad to donate 10% of their wage to fund the non playing staff's full salary.

Danny rose saying today that “conversations were being had” before “non football” people said they should take a pay cut. I’m sorry Danny but fuck off. Football stopped 3 weeks ago. You could have sorted in a week max.

I personally find it hard to imagine that ANY member of staff needs to be made to suffer hardship. Surely, as a matter of decency, EVERY premier league player could simply have come out and said that they would voluntarily agree to whatever percentage cut was necessary to cover those wages for as long as was necessary.
Such a simple thing to do. Causing absolutely no hardship to the players. Creating such goodwill towards not only themselves, but their clubs and most importantly of all, football itself.
Hopefully, their idiocy will be remembered and measures put in place to change the face of football forever.

We as tax payers are now paying the bulk of the wages for the two clubs that competed for last seasons champions league And then you have likes of Gary Neville and Joey Barton playing the small violin for the poorly treated footballers. Saying nhs are underpaid and not footballers fault. That isn’t the fucking point and exactly why these 2 gits shouldn’t be allowed to comment on anything other than football. The point is that as a business, these premier league clubs will survive this and will make this income back (or most of it) when this situation eases. The furlough for staff was not designed for premier league clubs. As a business, all the players need to do is to defer a portion of their salary so that no staff have to be furloughed and the British public don’t have to pick up the bill. I’m not even saying take a pay cut. Defer a small portion of your wage, let the other staff get paid. The other comment is the rich owners should be taxed more by uk gov. Most of them aren’t British and made income outside uk. How the hell are we supposed to tax them? We have no right to do that. Maybe they are tax dodging fuckers but they’re dodging tax in other countries not the UK.

Would love to see a PL player on £2,500 a month for a year. Would be a proper shock to their system to see what it's like to be a normal taxpayer in this country.
