On the pitch, yes. He was instrumental in making David Seaman the goalkeeper he became to a small extent.

He was a bit fiery too, remember the big scrap v Everton 0-0 game when only our keeper and Gregory didn't jump in.

Very good player and a real leader on the pitch.Played in midfield when he arrived and was tough in the tackle.Converted into a sweeper role where he excelled. We also had Paul Parker playing in CB role who also was top notch.Dont think Parker looked as good when converted to FB at Man U.

Good enough to win 20 caps for England at a time we had some great English centre-backs, and all whilst at little old QPR. Says it all really.

We’re fans bothered when he went to spurs?? It was another sale to keep us afloat but was on the cards as Terry Venables had just been appointed at Spurs. i was very disappointed when Terry Fenwick left but understood it was a good move for him , plus he gave us good service over a long period.

Terrific player. Tough. LB, CB, DM. All rounder. Really good guy. Played in two of the three cup finals we've ever reached. Didn't mind him going to Spurs; he'd earned a pay day.

We had his best years too. Don't recall him pulling up many trees for spurs.

He was going to Everton, but received a lot or racist mail from Everton so ended up man Utd I am not 100% certain if this is true but I seem to remember that Everton were the last top flight club to sign a black player and they got abuse from their fans for doing so. Very enlightened fans up in the NW.

A little vignette of his time with us; the Portsmouth home game, I think Ardiles was playing for us too, IIRC the score was 1-1 and QPR were awarded a free kick just outside the area on the SAR side and the ball was placed on the spot by the ref, the GK was lining his wall up and the ref began marching the 10 yards out and moving the Pompey players back a little. Just before the ref was about to turn and face the ball ready to blow his whistle Terry moved the ball about a yard to the right of him and promptly hit the back of the net with his shot. Neither the lino nor the ref had seen this so the goal stood but the Pompey players were apoplectic as they knew what he had done. It may have been the game where the Pompey mob took over R Block area.

Just had another look and David Bardsley is also missing.. 1989-1998 253 apps

I would be fairly confident that the only reason the Bardman isn't in it will be his current location. If he was ever over this way and we had a home game I would fully expect to see him on the pitch at half time. He is QPR man through & through.
