would love cameron back. it would make the bobby ball signing pointless though.
if warb is after another 5 players on top of the 7 that he has signed, are we not back to the problem of a bloated squad with lots of wages to pay?

I've asked JJB to join us. We desperately need his brother's ITK, IMO......

Our focus has to be the forward as we are desperately short up front and what we have left is rank bad.

Not going to lie, I don't get the way Les / MW have done business this window. I defy anyone to explain the rationale - the mf duplications, taking a massive punt on the striker front, CB cupboard iffy, and what looks like a fair wage building up for a bunch of mediocrity.
I look forward to being confounded by our brilliant strategists over the next few weeks.

I think they're waiting for the "offload" list prior to the transfer window closing and scooping up a couple of bargains.

Warburton has explained striker situation number of times and strategy makes perfect sense. You might not like it, I get that, and it is frustrating but it makes sense
Risky ploy but hopefully pays dividends

And as you say, Warburton has explained a number of times that we have our targets but we are waiting for their current clubs to decide whether they are going to let them go at a price we are willing to pay. We'll only know how much of a gamble it was letting Smith go when the season kicks off in a couple of weeks. Personally, I'm confident we'll have signed 2 or 3 strikers by then!

We needed to do the work early and we have done the bulk of it that way. Strikers and one or two other positions will be filled but as others have said, it depends on the Prem teams buying/selling and then we mop up those that don't even make their 25 man squad.
Risky yes, but at least it's a plan rather than just ending up with a Carlton Cole style player that's been around the houses without excelling anywhere.

Remember last time we were desperate for strikers we just got in Keane and Maiaga and season before that other untied player Macheda???
All awful desperate signings which offered nothing. Prefer this measured approach

Not sure that we've taken a massive punt on the striker front at all even considering that Matt Smith has had a fairly ok return. Would only be a massive punt if we get absolutely no-one in whatsover (IMO).

The concern with Smithy going is we are taking our plan b last 20 minute charge away. Very interesting to see who we do actually end up with.

Maybe the management feel Niko Hämäläinen is not ready to step up as back up for Wallace yet?

Maybe the management feel Niko Hämäläinen is not ready to step up as back up for Wallace yet? Yeah, but we have Barbet and Manning who can also do a job at left back. I think the manager must be looking to shift a few on. In our situation it really doesn't make sense to be starting the season with such a big squad. We have at least 2 players for every position, except strikers now. Should be putting 100% of our effort into bringing in strikers.

It sounds like he does regarding strikers at least.

Rangel can also fill in at left back if needed.

I have no problem bringing in another but not as a squad player. As mentioned, we have enough cover if Wallace is first choice LB. But if this bloke is brilliant then it would be daft to not bring him in.

Maybe it's just a click bait site so let's wait and see. Don't think so Dave. Spanish website Mercato is the original source. pretty reliable going by past transfers. Doubt the player is decent, his contract is not being renewed and only charlton and us are being reported to be interested. maybe one of les "hidden gems"
