Fingers crossed for Eddie Nketiah from Arsenal on loan. Looks like he'll make it at the very top level.

All the fuss surrounding Darnell leaving for a reasonable price sounds like the very same noise being made when Cole Kpekawa was "given away" to Barnsley. He is currently, at the age of 21, bumbling around the lower reaches with Billericay Town. Sounds like QPR did a good bit of business with him. Hardly the same thing is it. Furlong, has played over 100 games for us and had a very good season for us last year, hence why WBA are in for him and not Barnsley! It's exactly the same thing. QPR fans all raving how great a player Kpekwa was and moaning the Barnsley will probably sell him for ten times what they paid us etc. Darnell did not have a good season for us, he was part of a defence that shipped 70 goals for the second season in a row, he was targeted by the opposition as a weak link defensively and was often caught upfield out of position. In his defence, he was one of the best headers of a ball at the club and had a decent throw on him. I would hazard a guess that the lack of movement on the Luongo sale has dictated that we had to the money for him in an effort to reach the necessary £11.5m savings figure we need to avoid another FFP sanction.

Personally think Furlong had solid season. Let’s not blame him for number of goals shipped he missed first half of season with cruciate knee injury.
I said we would miss Ned when he left and we did, same applies to Furlong. The weak link in defence for number of seasons has been Lynch
Shania arsenal lad apparently being offered to palace for season as part of Zaha deal

I agree about Lynch, bar a short purple patch during the season where he looked one of the best defenders in the Championship, he was piss poor... which only reflects him in an even worse light for showing signs of competence.

i hope the strikers we bring in are on perm deals. we're geared up to make a shed load of chances and all we really need is someone to put them away. strikers go for obscene amounts of money in todays market.

Defenders (particularly CBs ) take time. I think Darnell has the makings, said it before.
Also said before that I can not see any rational explanation for the vast majority of business we have done this summer. I'm still waiting to be confounded by the wisdom of it all.

Personally think we are short on the keepers front. What if our 6th choice keeper picks up an injury? We need more cover. #fuckstrikers

Grant Hall's contract has also expired. Unless he also signed an extension and I missed it? Or weekly pay per play or such like?

Who's going to be first with the new striker news??? What are the odds we don't even sign a striker? ? Starting to get squeaky bum time.

could do with another winger for depth too imo. it looks like we're gunna be playing a 4231 formation but we only have bos and shodipo who can play on the wing, eze and chair can fill in there too but i'd like some more depth just in case

I really don't think that's the case mate. The Freeman deal plus the small fees we got for Ingram and Smith, and all of the high earners that dropped off the wage bill covered that. I think we even had a small amount in the transfer kitty if we needed to pay a fee after the Freeman deal was concluded. I think the Darnell Furlong sale is purely to finance purchases and/or loan fees for a few attacking players. I think a factor may also be that there was far less interest in Luongo than we hoped. I suspect he's going to go for a relatively small fee unfortunately. The impression I'm getting is our transfer window is a long way from done. I think there are going to be a few more coming in and going out before the season starts.

Hearing more and more about a possible £7m bid for Joe Lumley from Villa. Take that a fucking run! He's not worth anywhere near that.

I could see him going to a Prem side as back-up keeper, or a bigger/richer side in the Championship. But 7m quid seems a lot of dosh, particularly for our board who never seem to get a good deal on any player we sell. I'd of course love to be wrong on that though!

Looking at who's available on a free, Steven Naismith has the feel of a Warburton signing. Wages would be the issue.

Also the transfer market is different now to what it was a couple of years back. I think there may also be more than 1 club sniffing around Lumley which always helps drive the price up. All that being said, I still can't see 7m being likely.
