Think Smithies is a better keeper and what did we get for him? 7 mill would make Lumley a 10-15 goals a season striker. Maybe Villa see something we don't. Smithies was older than Lumley mate. Also the transfer market is different now to what it was a couple of years back. I think there may also be more than 1 club sniffing around Lumley which always helps drive the price up. All that being said, I still can't see 7m being likely. You never know though. How much did Angus Gunn go for to Southampton after one season on loan at Norwich ? £13m or something like that. Heard somewhere that Villa are interested in Bettinelli at Fulham. Sounds more likely to me.

But Angus Gunn has been pretty much first choice for England between the sticks all the way through from schoolboy level to U21's and came through the youth ranks at Man City. Lumley really is a late bloomer in comparison. 2 years ago he was nowhere near our first team and has never been called up by England at any level. As you say though mate, you never know. The current market is crackers, and any player is worth whatever another club is willing to pay for them. I will add that I was told yesterday (before the Dillon Barnes signing was announced) that Leeds had made an offer of 2m quid for Lumley earlier in the window, we responded saying the asking price was 8m. Rumour of course, but it came from someone close to the club.

Worral isn't a bad player at this level and could be a good addition.
I think Bristol City were sniffing around Lumley earlier in the window. I wonder if they are back in for him again!

This is the ideal scenario if we are going to sell a player mate. Multiple sides showing an interest is always going to allow us to hold out for a better price!

Routledge? Not that likely, he is probably on contract at Swansea.. Where from? I have googled it and nothing comes up. I was just a suggestion I was making. He is without a club now,(by the way).

Strikers need to be brought and at least 3 are needed as what we have are nowhere near good enough to keep us up. Warburton could be under a lot of pressure very early if we do not start well.

Alan Judge is so slow that I could beat him in a race and I'm 70 with a dodgy ticker (don't ask me why I am a season ticket holder). Talk about the juries out it ain't coming back.

We ha e a side which has more or less been in three relegation battles three seasons in a row. Freeman aside not sure any of the exits will have a significant impact not being here next season
Bidwell, Lynch, Smith, Ingram, woz etc are they they big a loss

All these changes of personnel have obviously been forced on the club for financial reasons with the loss of parachute payments
Warburton would have been told of this before agreeing to take the job, and in a way it helps him to have a clean sweep and all new players to mould to his ideas and methods
I also remember Eustace tail end of last season suggesting the players had to get themselves out of a 'losing mentality' So maybe a wholesale change of personnel won't be as bad as it seems

I said it a few weeks back that I am glad half the team has gone. It has been the same squad that goes on 7 match losing matches no matter the manager so got to lose the ones that are used to losing.

Not sure they were battled hardened. Never saw Lynch running through walls he was as weak as they came.
When you struggle year in year out you need change it. Squad last few seasons was week and under performed under various managers. Time for change

Time for change A shake up like this is often a good thing when a team has slipped into mediocrity/under-performance year after year. Weed out a few that have become lazy or too comfortable, bring in some new faces, youngsters with a point to prove etc. Aside from perhaps the crazy Premiership years, this is the biggest overhaul we've had since we came out of Admin. I personally think it's quite exciting!
