talkSPORT has also been notified that Angel Rangel, who like Cameron spent last season at QPR, is close to signing a new contract.Rangel, 36, proved to be an excellent addition to the Rs backline after he was released by Swansea last May following an 11-year spell in south Wales. There has been other interest in Rangel, but the Rs are hopeful of tying up a deal for the experienced defender within the next week. talksport.com/football/efl/568572/qpr-transfer-news-stoke-geoff-cameron-talks-loftus-road-return/

Rangers re-sign Angel RangelQPR have re-signed experienced full-back Angel Rangel on a one-year contract. The 36-year-old first joined the Super Hoops last August, subsequently making 20 appearances and scoring two goals for us. Former Swansea City defender Angel will now spend another season with the R’s after putting pen to paper on a new deal this afternoon (Friday). “It feels great to be back – I’m very happy,” he told www.qpr.co.uk. “I had such a fantastic time here last season. “QPR tick all of the boxes for me. There’s such a great group of lads in the dressing room, the environment is very positive and I wanted to have the connection that I had with the supporters again. “The new manager has come in with a new philosophy on football – a style that I was used to for many years at Swansea as we went from League One to the Premier League. I’ve always enjoyed playing that way and, all things considered, the decision to come back here was a very easy one.” R’s boss Mark Warburton added: “Angel’s experience will prove invaluable. “You want the balance to be right – you want youthful exuberance, that hunger and desire. But you need senior players who can apply their experience and knowledge as well. You want them to speak to and advise players, to get into them when they have to. “Players like Angel understand when to do that, what to do and why to do it. I’m delighted to have him back on board because I think he’ll be a real benefit to us.” Warburton continued: “He is someone who has played football in a certain type of way for a number of years at Swansea. “Angel is an attack-minded full-back who is also disciplined. He is a top professional who is in great condition. “You could tell from the reaction when he came back in that he’s well liked in the dressing room. “It’s great to see him back here. He had choices, like all good players do, but he’s thrilled to come back to QPR.”

A welcome return. Let's hope Geoff Cameron comes back to. Hopefully Angel can work on dealing with far post crosses.....😉

Really happy about this one and seems it was arranged sometime ago but does raise one question. Why is he coming back now he’s missed two weeks of pre season, why not do deal two weeks ago and get him involved from the start

Why is he coming back now he’s missed two weeks of pre season, why not do deal two weeks ago and get him involved from the start i reckon he was keeping his options open which they alluded too in the interview. makes sense at his age, he seems like a genuine bloke who just wants to play as much football as he can while he can. he probs got offers from other championship teams but only as a certain backup option.

I would love for that to catch on. I'm going to take the liberty of posting it on a couple of QPR sites and an FB group. I hope you don't mind.

Crazy that it looked like he wouldn't get a deal anywhere. Very solid player at this level.

Interested to read rumours that Warbs wanted Angel Rangel to be captain earlier this season ,apparently Angel Rangel felt that giving it to Hall would be more appropriate.
What a nice gesture by Angel , hope we can keep him on the payroll when he decides to hang up his boots.

Warburton said as much after the match mate. That'll be a tough one to come back from at nearly 38 years of age. Sad way to see him depart.
