7 wins or 6 and 3 draws from 9. Possible but not bloody likely, Bill 4 wins and a draw. S.wed,Charlton,Barnsley and Wigan plus a draw Yes I know what you mean. I was thinking about the sequence of 9 games after lockdown. Even if we had continued our god run of form, it would have been highly unlikely for us to get 21 points from these last 9 games. When did we last get 21 points over 9 games? Beginning of 13-14 season perhaps.

Feel gutted that we never made the top six because of an obvious flaw since game 1 and that is basic defending. Some of the football this season has been PL and some National League and that is because we have no foundations in place. 2 seasons in a row we have played with average at best goalkeepers so why have we not solved that problem? We have a you tube king in charge of recruitment so what is he actually watching? The manager needs to look at sorting the defence whether he agrees or not as I care about QPR not MW so if he is that stubborn that solve that straight away. We could and should have been higher up and with the expected sales we may live to regret the one that got away.

I am starting to think that not giving a shit about defending is all part of MW ploy of over exaggerating the ability of our saleable assets to bring in desperately needed funds.
Seriously if MW manages to sell players like Manning for decent money I take my hat off to him.

Would be impressed if that were the case though. If we manage to get a few mill for Manning I'll be happy.

And why we are not trying to get foreign players in is far beyond my comprehension. It doesn`t make sense at all imo. They don`t have to be scandinavians, but from all parts of the world.

There is a stat on Lumley most mistakes in the league for keepers leading to goals which in large part is due to being asked to play as a sweeper. Like I said before Nick Pope is the best english keeper in the prem, end of, but that's partly because Dyche doesn't ask him to fuck about. Like Lumley, he the sort of GK who can't play that role (should still be England's #1 imo).
Another thing. The reason why Barnsley have survived is because of the quality of their off the ball effort. They sussed Brentford out and pressed the shit out of them at the right times.
We're poor off the ball and that is a direct consequence of the way the side is managed.

I made the same point on the Moore thread, All these football related people at the club yet we do not have one player in our squad from overseas. The scandanavian market offers value as does the irish market so not sure why we are not getting in to them.

I can imagine our fan base 3 games in to that period, not nice. i am sure we a looking far and wide (ie Ramkilde)

could not disagree more Luton at home can’t think of a mistake due to playing out. The mistake he made yesterday had it gone in goal instead of out for a corner what’s that got to do with playing out? It’s simply bad goal keeping.

Lumley is a bang average keeper who has cost us over the time he has been between the sticks for us. While he is better than Ingram neither were good enough to be first choice keepers. Lumley is uncomfortable with the ball at his feet but that is not the reason for dropped point, The reason for dropped points is down to not replacing a keeper of Smithies quality and if we do not address that we will be having the same conversation/moan next season.

I saw Scmiceichel of Leicester play a couple games recently and despite being highly rated made some proper rickets wherein I thought of Joe Lumley and thought all keepers go through bad spells.
Joe Lumley has played really well since he got his place back but has made two or three howlers that could easily have cost us.
He’s better than an average Keeper but i do agree his concentration levels require urgent attention otherwise he becomes another Gary Sprake with a reputation of dropping clangers.
For those that don’t remember Gary Sprake

For those that don’t remember Gary Sprake With respect Lumley is not good enough for a team hoping to be a top half or play off chasing team. Nothing against him as I like but he should not be first choice as we should have found a replacement for Smithies who Joe could have improved under. This really needs to be addressed as a good keeper in this league can win or you lose you 15 points a season. Kenny was an example when he came in of the difference a good keeper makes

Don’t forget about Sonny Dieng 73R
Would imagine all Four keepers would start pre-season with an eye on number 1 jersey.
I would love if a top notch keeper was scouted and ready to go but think realistically a good CB and couple of strikers would be more priority.

[br Missing the point sparx, Dieng maybe an option but what if he is not? You need a good keeper to save you points not cost you them. Cannot expect a fellow who has been loaned out to be thrown straight in. We did it with Joe after a loan spell and look where we are.

Seems to have been drawing some really excellent reviews from his last few loan spells. I'd probably look to offload Lumley either way. He's been given enough chances now and he doesn't look up to the job.

Really don’t think we will buy another keeper if we don’t sell one first..Dieng would be my choice if I was picking team right now but have only seen him in highlights on TV.

We have a shit defence and a manager who does believe you need to work on the defensive side of the game. Do you think it is right to put an unproven keeper in that position. We conceded the the fourth most goals in the division this season so huge risk and pressure on Dieng if they decide on that route

The owners would at least need to see us challenging for playoffs consistently before they would decide to trust MW with big bucks to get us promoted. I would be ok with that as I know MW has not had decent money this season but cannot say I’m particularly impressed with players that have been brought in so far. Finding a new keeper before seeing how Dieng performs would be madness imo as other positions are more of a priority.

Warburton had the option of letting Dieng take his chance, it's not like we were spoiled for choice at that point. He chose not to do that.

Just one excample of why Warburton is his own worst enemy.

I've been saying that all season. Save it and give it to someone who can play.
