nothing really positive to say about the first half. neither team looks especially dominant but i would say it's 55-45 in oxford's favour imo.
stream is constantly buffering and pausing though, not to mention the picture quality is like something from the 90s!

Bar Manning, this first 11 today is pretty much how we will line up next week in the cup imo If you hear the interviews with Warbs, I think you will see a team full of youngsters and not many first 11 players. It sounds like he would rather not play the second round. |

Smyth has always been a decent little player, direct and tricky with a finish. Should defintely be pushing for the first 11 this year.

Negatives =manning can’t defend even against inferior opposition, Amos had a bad day at the office, Passing was off in general and ote isn’t a professional footballer. Seen enough of the lad now and he offers absolutely nothing. If he makes a career for himself in the league pyramid I’ll be surprised

Kakay and Wallace should be given starts as first choice after that. I think better not to have both Ball and Cameron in central mid. Oxford did seem very committed for a pre-season game.....some of their challenges were pretty bad. Not sure we should worry too much. Think Amos will get better.

Positives is Warbs has said after the game we will be bringing in least four more player maybe more.
Today was pretty much our first 11 and I think it highlighted we need some additions, more options and we need some depth.
Pleased to read Wallace, Kakay and Smyth has good games.

Think today highlighted the desperate need for a striker or 2 to help out Dykes, and a couple of defenders, one who can play LB.
Wallace did very well but he is getting on a bit and its not guaranteed he can play every game of what will be an even tougher season. Manning for me is gone, his head is elsewhere and I'd rather he just went than strutted about without giving a shit, as he did today.
It wasn't just the goal that scared me about our defence, there were several situations in that game where an Oxford forward was completely unmarked and had a golden opportunity. Those will be punished more often in the Championship. Hopefully the Dickie deal gets done, or we get a better CB in.
Up front I think Dykes will do a job for us, but at the moment he's our only recognised striker worth playing. Oteh is a waste of a shirt I'm afraid, he's had so many chances to impress and not taken them. Its a shame. 2 strikers needed imo.
It would be nice to get a creative midfielder in, but honestly I have a feeling that Chair and Smyth, if given a good run of games, will really come into their own this season. Thomas is an unknown quantity, hopefully he will be an asset too. Its not as important a position to fill as striker or CB/LB imo. This is assuming BOS doesn't sign a new deal.
Kakay is another one worth a mention, I liked the look of him after lockdown and am hoping he goes from strength to strength this season.
