The obvious dangers of keeping MW on are, it’s highly likely that the likes of Willock,Dickie and Dieng could be sold if the right offers come in. MW will quite rightly expect a good proportion of the transfer fees for replacements. If next season is indeed average or poor then it’s going to be very difficult to convince other ambitious managers to come here with little or no transfer budget. It’s no coincidence that Villa convinced Gerrard to join after £100m came in for Grealish.
And what a shit appointment that one looks at the moment by the way. I'm very surprised at how much Villa are struggling given how well Gerrard did at Rangers. |

Exactly - it could be any of those three, I have no idea. Gerrard got a decent new manager bounce when he arrived, but that seems to have faded a little. He did great at Rangers, but then that's not exactly the Premier League. Talking about the 'high trajectory' I think Gerrard is both aspirational and confident. A high trajectory to me sounds like top 6 minimum for a club like Villa. Not sure that is likely in the near future on current showing - my use of 'delusional' was slightly tongue-in-cheek. But perhaps he has promises in the bank regarding transfer budgets and who knows, could be viable in 3-5 years? Exciting time to be a Villa fan I'd say. |

I'm a fan of Gerrard and like mentioned above, I think he's likely to be Liverpool Manager sooner or later.
That said, his first few months at Villa have been poor. It's all well and good what he's saying about the players needing to prove their worth etc. but the squad he has inherited really isn't that bad. It's also not gonna be as easy for him to do what he did at Rangers with Villa. He leaned on his relationships and reputation to acquire players that normally wouldn't have fancied playing in Scotland. He's not gonna be able to put together a squad that is better than the rest of the division like that with Villa.
