Have been disappointed with him for a short while now.
Doesn't ever seem to be in positions to score or pick up second balls or spillages.

He`s not quite been himself since the last international break.

Our top scorer now with a 1:2 ratio. Best stats of our strikers, and strikers are ultimately judged by their goal scoring, as we all know. Yet curiously he still seems to divide opinion.
Are his detractors coming more round to him yet? Another good performance yesterday by most people's standards.
I never forget a similar situation with Helguson in our 2010/11 promotion season. Despite his huge contribution that year he remained a scapegoat for many fans.

Job of a striker is to score goals primarily. And a striker like Dykes is a target man. He's scoring goals, that's enough for me.

I like him but personally think there is a better player in him then he’s showing.
Given his size he needs to hold the ball up (helguson good example raised by stan) as for me how he currently plays if he don’t score I’m sometimes left asking myself what’s he brought to the match.
Would like see him be more physical a rough up the CB on occasions. I don’t think he looks a hard centre forward to play against if you were a CB your not going into the game thinking shit got handle Lyndon Dykes today
Not sure if that makes any sense

The to him he should have had 2 goals yesterday. Played very well and was happy with his effort. Needs to be doing that on a consistent basis though.

Just to add, the lead up to Chair's goal, Dykes was superb, that header on the ground to get the ball to Austin summed him up yesterday. Commitment can't be questioned imo.

93% shot accuracy - highest in the division. Quite an interesting stat.

I went yestrrday pissing with rain got soaked, central line out and thought we are going to lose.
What a great game Chair mom for me.
I slagged off Dykes for not putting himself about enough but he did so well in the lead up to that goal and the diving header sublime.
Ref was a bit of a cunt but i expect that now.
Thorughly enjoyable !!!!

Thing lacking for me is his positional play in the box. And his anticipation. Always seems a second short.

Quite an interesting stat. Workrate is what he brings. Bit flatfooted at times, and maybe lacking in anticipation of where the ball might end up, but I expect him to improve on these parameters, as he´s only played professionally for 5 years. And only had proper opposition since 2019 when he went to Livingston. He is at a decent level now, and will probably only get better.

Make you right DK. In my opinion Dykes is still pretty raw. No academy football, formative years in a pretty mediocre Scottish side. He has plenty of attributes and can hopefully be coached into a very good centre forward.

Thought he was very good yesterday and his goal and the flick header for the 3rd were two good bits of play. Also scored what looked like a perfectly good header as well. Considering we paid 1.8 million for him I think he is doing ok but think he has more to offer. Compare him to say McBurnie at 18 million and who would you rather have in this team and the way we play

We complain sometimes about Dykes. PSG just lost to Rennes 2-0. Zero shots on goal with Messi, Neymar and Mbappe!

Yes, as you point out, he´s only had top level coaching for a couple of years, so there should definitely be room for improvement

He clearly scores goals and working bloody hard (his assist for Chair highlights this) but then his hold up and link up play for build up is normally left wanting. But he scored and assisted and had a goal of the season ruled out for offside.

Reckon he will get better , as long as he keeps putting the effort in then no complaints from me. Gutted the header was deemed to be offside as it looked good

Lyndon Dykes is only the second Scotland player to score in three consecutive World Cup qualifying appearances after Mo Johnston, who netted in five consecutively between September 1988 and April 1989. Amends.

I really like Dykes. He’s not clinical but he keeps coming back for his side and team mates. You can’t ask for more than that.

If he didnt have the few flaws people are picking up on he woudn't be playing for us. Personally like the fact he is getting better with us and will get better. Am well behind the lad and can see him being vital at Fulham next week...they won't know how to deal with him.
Been a long time since we've had a consistent goal scoring international.

Che Adams is now “injured” for the Scots tonight. You can be certain he’ll be fine for Southampton’s next game. That leaves Dykes to work his arse off and come back knackered and injured. We seem to have a very honest bunch of players, look at Preston for comparison. But sometimes, being honest, seems to get you nowhere. Players going down pretending to be injured gets no punishment. Players who “cry off” for their countries against poor sides, just get away with it. Don’t get me wrong, much rather have Dykes type of player but the whole situation pisses me off.

As long as he doesn't pick up a injury tonight he should be nice and fresh for Fulham . The man is a athlete . Fly home tomorrow then light training . The club won't work him hard . Practice tactics then out to give it 100% against the fool's

It'll likely be Austin and Gray on Saturday.
