Michael Appleton has held talks with Queens Park Rangers as they step up their search for a new manager. Appleton is high on Rangers’ list of candidates after establishing an impressive reputation at Oxford, who he guided to League Two promotion on a small budget. The 43-year-old is also renowned as an excellent coach, working under Craig Shakespeare and then Claude Puel at Premier League club Leicester. Appleton is a coach/manager I don`t know anything about at all, but maybe he is good at organising..He did well at Oxford...but QPR would be a different kettle of fish??....

I'd prefer him to Sherwood, but Appleton would be a huge roll of the dice!

Yeah me too. He’s certainly worked at some clubs with some problems to say the least!

Did say earlier thought him or Ainsworth would get it as Sherwood would have been done and dusted by now.

Suppose we get Shaun Derry back if this happens

He’s got a better record than Ainsworth I’d say. Mainly looking at Oxford because I don’t think you can count some of the others eg Blackpool

Maybe we should go for Appleton then. He is obviously a football man with contacts in the game. Leicester and lower divisions..

Just looked on oddschecker and Sherwood has come back into even money from 3-1 earlier today. Appleton also cut so looks like Sherwood may have also held talks or they plan to

The former England Cricket captain?

His time at Portsmouth is probably most relevant to us - rebuilt a squad with no money - but doesn't particularly excite me apart from not being Sherwood.

If he can drill a defence, he is what we need.

A very patchy managerial career with relegation as well as promotion on his CV. Doesn't exactly excite me. Scary looking bugger too!

While the betting is no certainty to how it will pan out, I do think that there is something in the monet today for Sherwood especially when talks with Appleton have been made public.

Do not fancy this one bit and do not see this guy as the fellow to steer us in the right direction. Would rather have Dim Sherwood

Well, I supposed compared to Useless Eustace, Appleton is a much better bet. Appletons to Oranges really. Still think if we could hold out for Bowyer, we'd actually have a chance of building something here.

Agree about Bowyer Hubble as very highly rated at Charlton and a good pal of mine loves the way the team plays in spite of their owner.

Whether our clueless board want him is the question!
