Just got home and checked the stats. 26 shots with only one goal. Pathetic. Also booed the substitution of gray. No way should he have come off. When donkey was clear through but decided to lazyly tried to curl a pathetic shot instead of moving in on goal and lace the ball, that should have been enough to hook him. Also look back at our goal, great cross comes in and he is standing, watching, scarecrow style on the edge of the 6 yard box. Don’t think he attacked a single cross, and there was ample today. Gray is far better. He has pace and movement. Btw, what was the song in the first half that was aimed at Chris Martin. Couldn’t make out the words. I thought gray was the only threat yesterday. Dykes looked like the dykes of first half of last season to me. He made a lot of runs off ball for no reward because we hold onto the ball to long |

If anyone else wishes to do the honours please be my guest. I was just about able to summon the will to update the top scorers thread with Macca's displays in the last two games being the only bright spark. |

I was just about able to summon the will to update the top scorers thread with Macca's displays in the last two games being the only bright spark. In recent years, I’d be better the next day. I know he missed them, but getting on the end of them is something. Gray didn't create anything that I could see. |

Now I've had time to reflect a few things stood out for me yesterday.
Chair - Too slow to release the ball. Slows down play holding onto the ball giving the opposition time to regroup. In his defence he might be waiting for movement but saw at least 4-5 occasions when he could have released players in good positions.
Odubajo - I like him but gets caught out of position a lot and seems to be prone to regular gaffes. His fault for first goal.
Willock - Never got going yesterday at all. Has been good this season but not yesterday.
Gray - Didn't do enough to work Bristol's defence for me. Can argue service wasn't great but got to think outside the box and make things happen in those instances.
Dykes - Should've had a couple of goals. Poor accuracy.
Austin - Love him but he looks really off the boil. Seems to have had a rough couple of weeks personally but hasn't looked fit or at it since day 1 of the season.
Adomah - Was happy to see him coming on but made no impact at all.
Pigeon - Consistent performance. Held his own at the corner of Ellerslie and maintained his position for most of the game. MOTM for me.

Stefan. Far too deep. Which was an issue at Bournemouth. Had no choice as Ball was dropped so he was the only deep lying MF we had. A gamble that didn't pay off due to their keeper having a worldy of a game. |

It’s unfathomable how players at this level can’t at least dribble and shoot with their weaker foot yet we see it time and time again, even at the very highest level.
If they don’t already know it by doing their homework beforehand, one of the first things any half decent defender does in a game is work out whether a player can go past them either side. If they can then the defender will know they are in for a difficult game.
