Because if it did the timing is interesting.
Mind you, you can pass a fit and proper persons test if you're an active, outed and under investigation serial killer so lets not jump to conclusions that he's time at LR is done just yet.

If the EFL was ever run as it should be then a lot of clubs would be in trouble, currently we have an EFL that let a club go bust because they wouldn't allow another club to give them the money they needed to survive. |

Fuck em. I've been firmly in the 'better the devil you know camp' in recent years while many have wanted TF etc. out. I'm not sure I can keep holding that stance. So tired of us ending up in the papers for stuff that's going on off the pitch!

Don't get the hate for Tony. Sure, he made massive mistakes but he must have pumped 200 odd million into our hobby and approximately half his reported wealth that he is unlikely to ever see back. That takes balls and commitment. It turned out a shit show but don't remember too many fans complaining at the time about his managerial appointments or the signings. Always seems a very genuine, warm bloke to me and I for one would love to sit down and have a beer with him. |

Arguably his purchase of AA in the first place was part funded by the Malaysian government, the airline was state owned and they wanted rid at any price. It's very hard to say that he has personally pumped in 200m at this end, I'm not quite sure where that figure comes from - and of course no one forces anyone to buy a football club. Like many other owners, his business acumen didn't really stand him in good stead for sporting ownership, and you have to say plenty of people DID question some of his decisions back in the day, notably leaping into bed with Hughes and Kia. Having said all that, I do sense that he is now firmly an R and in that sense one of us (despite having a soft spot for the irons). |

If he had managed to do the deal earlier in the summer to buy the club and we weren't desperately buying all these big time Charlie has beens on massive wages because they were the only ones left before the window shut. That seemed to set the benchmark for salaries/ the kind of players we went for. Hughes was probably the single biggest mistake - in any other line of business he and his agent would have faced fraud charges for the insider trading/ corruption of bringing in all these players who all just happened to have the same agent. Amazing with the sums involved there wasn't a CEO going thru the deals and questioning this stuff. Could have paid millions in salary to a top, experienced guy and it would have preserved ten times the cost of his wages. But at the end of the day suspect nobody feels more bruised about all that than Tony. Amazing he keeps a smile on his face after all that and fair play to him for it. |
