If there was money on the table for him and/or his departure frees up wages to bring in someone else that the Manager would rather have then this makes perfect sense.
I did like De Wijs though. No nonsense and never let us down (when he was fit to play).

That’s a shame. I liked Gizmo. Apart from injuries, I thought he done well for us. Sad to see him go.

I like the viceman too but Beale confirmed yesterday he does favour 4 at the back in recent seasons, so with just 2 CB spots this does kind of make sense.

Got nothing against DeWijs at all...gave it all when he played, just not as good as Dunne and Dickie to be fair

Best of luck, Gizmo. Device always solid when played. Don't know why Warbs sent him packing in January, and brought in that useless mophead instead. One of many mistakes he made that window, and ruined our season.
