No one is free, we have certain freedoms , which are getting lesser by the years.
Freedom of speech is one we have left but under serious attack. People should be free to say anything. Then if folk disagree they can counter it. How do kids learn that there is many sides to life if they only see the general narrative. People are intelligent enough to read things and form their own views on what ever. Do you really want to live in a world where there is a “ party line of view” and nothing else should be heard even if it is bollox?

Dystopian times. In years to come when you can’t say anything the government don’t like, people will cry. But it’s the people at the moment doing the government job for them. When it gone it doesn’t come back, people should remember that.

(That's what freedom of speech is all about) Should he be "cancelled" for them? No Do TalkSport want an employee espousing those kind of views in the public town square? That's for them to decide. |

Trevor was clearly far from clever saying this. Not a great royalist myself but as others have said, the Queen deserved plenty of respect as a person for her dedication. Badly misjudged the public mood.
All I would say in his very partial defence is I'm guessing virtually everyone on here is white (and no GT, if you tell me you are actually from a long line of Zimbabwean tribal leaders I'm not buying it...). Some black people prob have a more ambiguous attitude towards monarchy than many white people for quite visceral reasons. Even the Queen on her 21st birthday made a speech about her "great imperial family". If your parents and grandparents have been on the other end of colonialism (and even slavery further back) you are prob not going to celebrate the greatest link to our imperial past.
But otherwise agree with everything that has been said - show some class in the face of death, and to those who can't, just let them crack on and respect freedom of speech.
