Game 44: Burnley 1 QPR 2 (22.04.2023. Field, Martin)

Having had a couple of days to digest and reflect on what really is a wonderful result, I had another look at the highlights today.
Gotta say, Rob Dickie looked like the player we signed from Oxford under Warbs again, what a performance from him. For all their dominance in the first half we more than matched Burnley in the second, second half was such a good performance. And I loved the celebrations at the end, think that's an indication that the players were actually feeling the very poor run of form and were mightily relieved to stop that rot. Not one person, myself included, realistically thought we'd get any points from Norwich and Burnley but 4pts is terrific.
Still have to ask the question though, where has that superb defending, sheer passion and desire been since December? If we'd shown that same level of commitment we'd be closer to playoffs than relegation. It's a damn shame because clearly the players are good enough, make no mistake this was not a fluke result. Defended like heroes in the first half and turned it on in the second.
We aren't out of the woods yet, another point and a Reading draw/loss will do it. Gotta take this high feeling into Stoke away next week.
