not really the clubs fault tbh. they did request an away game for the opening fixture but were initially denied.
i work as a gardener and have worked at the stoop in the past so have a fair amount of experience when it comes to turfing and grass. time is the most important thing when it comes to any new turf/pitch. you don't just lay it and crack on, it needs WEEKS, sometimes up to 6 for it to properly bed in and establish itself. if you start walking, cutting or playing football on new turf then it'll really fuck it up.
even the first cut after its laid is done on a very light tip. grass isn't really fully established and ready to go for 6-8 weeks after its been laid.

Work should have started the day after the season ended surely.

But we should have been ripping up the old one after the final whistle of the last game. A properly run club would have had the diggers waiting for us to leave. We surely had some clout with contractors after Heston?

Typical QPR shit show.

Reading the statement above from Alan / Corby around the process of laying a new pitch, it seems like no one at the club done any due diligence or research or surely we wouldn’t be in this situation now. From the piss poor shitty fucking website to our actual pitch that we play on way just cannot get anything right can we?

if the club has sat on their laurels and not sorted it out then that is genuinely stupid. there was supply issues with turf earlier in the year which may have affected the species of grass that the club wanted. i had to delay a few turfing jobs in may for the same issue and i was only using the standard medalion stuff.
edit: to add to that the club did also carry out major works to the pitch too with irrigation and undersoil heating so that also takes time.
even after they've done that they still need to level off all of the works which does take a surprising amount of patience its not just a case of leveling the ground and laying over it as that runs its own risk. the ground would dip and sink in some areas and would need to be levelled off over the course of a week or two and given its a football pitch it needs to be precise.
there's a lot of waiting around with a job like that tbh.
