Good signing IMO. Whilst no spring chicken, he's an experienced head who (let's be honest) is probably better than most of our other options.

Decent signing even at 33. Plenty of champ experience, gets stuck in and will be solid next to Field.
Hell of a deal for him at 33, 2 year contract with a option of another, probably why we beat of competition from WBA, Ipswich ect.
If we can somehow get Tim back on loan, midfield wont be to bad, but still a lot of work to be done from a recruitment persective.

Watch how opposition players tend to lose him whilst defending in and around our own penalty area, he’s obviously an experienced player but I still question him sometimes switching off when we are defending deep.

It’s same as when Johansen was doing similar, no one appeared to notice it and only wanted to remember his first spell on loan. Yesterday he gave the ball away in MF leaving Dozzell to make a last gasp tackle when it looked like they were in on goal, again in the later stages he tried a pass back inside our box and gave it away but oppo made a mess of the chance. Yet 19 yr old Armstrong gets slated because he missed a sitter? |

Armstrong is not a forward in fairness to him it’s as clear as day.
Anyway difference of opinion respect your not a fan and he needs do more convince you which is fair enough. Fair point on Stefans second coming.

I agree to a certain extent but adding those to his poor challenge for the Ipswich winner its only fair I try to justify why he’s still on a slow burner for me. |

But I gotta say if the signs from Southampton and Boro (imo of course) are anything to go by, we have a real player in Colback. Upgrade on Stefan for sure. |

Yes I agree on giving him more time to get fully match fit.
Looking again at the Armstrong chance he doesn’t time his run well enough and looks to be trying too hard to stay on-side, I think if he does score it’s off-side anyway. I liked the way Chair subtly pulled away from the defenders into space for any cut back in the centre of the box.
At least Armstrong had the positional awareness to stay in the corner of the net for Colback’s goal.

Every team needs a Colback type of player. Good start and lets hope he and the other new guys keep to the standards they have set themselves up to now.

I think most of us agree Armstrong touch when running with the ball needs to improve but compare his stats with Colback and it’s easy to see why stats can be misleading in some cases. |
