The suggested 11 you quoted included him (apologies I thought that was your post tbf but you were only quoting it). I was half jesting anyway, Willock hardly renowned for effort (especially of late).

I’d actually start Willock.
Smyth was so bad and hasn’t proved he deserves more starts.
Willock for his faults has a decent cross in him with a couple of assists from the right hand side lately.
Him on the right, Frey in the middle. Pepper him!

We need the players , like Marti C said a few weeks back, to form playing relationships on the pitch. Chair and Willock used to be the perfect excample as such.

Him on the right, Frey in the middle. Pepper him! He has become so slow with his acceleration., it means his sharp bursts and turns of old don’t work anymore. Equally i finally have to admit Chair actually produces very little considering how much of the game he is on the ball. It’s half the reason no one has come in for him.

Fair point but who goes on the right hand side then? I’m just going on the hope Willock can get some balls into the box which he’s proven he can actually do.

Why not try chair on right so he don’t have to keep cutting in he can try just beating man and whipping ball in.
Under Warburton was Willock not playing off the left?? If so why we messed that about. Willock way better at cutting in and delivering with both feet then Chair so surely makes more sense have him in that role and let chair concentrate on using one foot on his natural side.

You had Willock on the left WITH Chair with Lee Wallace overlapping and crossing. All three dove-tailed off each other to great effect. I've always said you get the best out of Chair and Willock when they play together on the left. (Yes, in theory you could switch them to the right, like you're suggesting.) Paal or Larkeche could do the Wallace role too. Paal has done so at times but is currently out of form.

I also liked it when they moved around the pitch together. It worked.

Changes needed big time. Don't care if they're not all fully fit - start them and go out on the front foot:
Begovic
Kakay Cook JCS Larkeche
Hayden Colback
AndersEn Hodge Willock
Frey Fine brining in Larkeche but I don’t want Kakay near the squad. Maybe Field could play right back? Like the rest of the side. Got to hope that Willock delivers some quality because we know Smith can’t. Chair from the bench could work again…

Id play same team and tell them they are a disgrace to their profession and the fans and send them out to redeem themselves.

So not sure he'd be an improvement on Kakay there. Cannon is struggling imo.

I feel we have to change formation from now on. 3-5-2 maybe.

I feel we have to change formation from now on. 3-5-2 maybe. worth considering but you’d have to teach Cannon and Paal how to cross a ball if they are the width.

Defence is the only thing which turns up each week last thing I’m doing is fucking about with that. Agree. Would just add that the defensive midfielders probably deserve some credit for keeping the goals - and chances - down. But maybe playing with two such players is one of the reasons we don't score more goals. Is Hayden good enough to play there on his own, at least at home to Rotherham?

I would start Field tomorrow. We need his resilience when he is at his best.
