More or less safe is not safe especially when it comes to Rangers.
Being positive is good but strange results occurr towards the crunch time of the season.
Complacency, over confidence are not for me.
One game at a time please.

Think it all depends when we play them Bill. We’re not playing them all next week. Next 2 games for sure. But will Preston, Hull and Coventry all realistically be in the hunt? Also Leeds could be up by then.

Think one more point sees us over the line. Looking Huddersfield games at most would say they get six points. Ipswich away last game who might need win for automatics or win title means they got 5 games get 3 wins some ask

Marti not going to say it and rightly so.
But so many of the teams below us have to play each other and are on terrible form.
Even if two or three go on a barnstorming room we will still be safe unless they ALL go on a run.

Cook,Clarke Salter sustain injury we become vulnerable at the back for example. Agree to disagree but to call us safe with 18 points on offer is a little premature imo.

Agree to disagree but to call us safe with 18 points on offer is a little premature imo. agree tbh for the reasons you said. yes, the other teams are all in bad form but we saw earlier in the season the kind of form they can put up. it wasn't that long ago that sheffield wednesday were tearing everyone apart. they're a very experienced team to boot and if any team in this relegation battle can turn it around it's them imo. huddersfield have their moments too, and while plymouth have struggled at home as of late it's still something to be concerned about. birmingham (who i think will go down) don't have a bad team on paper and have a manager who can grind out results as they did today against a promotion chasing preston. it's not as foregone as "yep, we're safe" as i think a lot of the teams around us are dramatically underperforming. i'm 90% sure that we will stay up though but there's 18pts left to play for like you said. this is the championship, it's the most competitive league in the world and one where anything can happen. i suspect 50pts would guarantee safety and surely even we can gain 4 more points between now and the end of the season (touch wood). i think marti will keep the team focused in every game between now and the end of the season. a 6 point cushion is fantastic and puts us in control of our own destiny.

Just out of interest, does anyone know what the table looked like after 40 games last season? I would have thought we were worse off, but points to stay up this year will be more than last year probably.

But we had fewer and tougher games to come.👍

Usually you merge threads like this, Stan (with the 'points needed' thread).
Four of us predicted 49 points, and I'm pretty sure that will prove to be enough. Win on Saturday, and I reckon we're safe.

On another board its claiming some bookies offering odds of 21/1 on our relegation! Find that hard to believe the odds are quite that long but fans who are still wetting the bed should maybe take comfort that the bookies don't get too many that badly wrong...

I reckon third from bottom will go right to the wire and need 50 points so we’ll have to match last season. At least. Thats 10 wins and 7 draws as stated in previous post. From the date of this post, we have had 9 wins and 7 draws. Just one more win to go lads

Hi Loftus - when you say 59 points are needed does that factor in that a lot of teams below us have to play each other?
On your projections noticeable that we already have enough points.
