i do think CR did improve our academy in general BUT do agree that we were far too sentimental. nico hammerjhsdncdlinen getting a 4 year deal has to be up there as one of the worst decisions we made in regards to the academy.
i'm a happy clapper and also suffer from FOMO quite a bit but gubbins was never gunna be good enough for the championship. he will absolutely carve out a career for himself in league 1 and 2 like max ehmer has but he was kept around for far too long. why aren't we utilizing the likes of gubbins and SDM to generate cash? sure, we're not gunna get much for them. probably between 50-100k each and a sell on fee but it's SOMETHING.
have a few of those every season and it adds up.

I thought Phillips was shit for us when he was younger, yet alone now. But no, I wouldn't take him.
Makes sense that we want wingers. Only really have Willock and Smyth. Chair starts left but drifts in so I wouldn't class him as a winger. Anderson is also more central. Adomah gone, Willock probably going.

paddy mcnair is a decent utility player which are always handy to have about. would take sam mccallum back too if paal is sold. aaron connolly is just waiting to break out, bit injury prone but still a handfull up top and scored a few for hull last season. tyrese campbell and weimann could also be options off the bench or in campbell's case someone who might just need a change of scenery. probably a few more if i put thought into it but those players stick out for me. |
