Can we revert back to 3 at the back or is Barbet injured? I don’t think we can play Kakay from the start….

Budget has a part to play in this. We couldn't have afforded Wallace or Odubaju if they were 24 with no record of injuries. We are shopping in the footballing scrap heap for players others don't want. You can bring in unproven youngsters but a lot of the time they will turn out like Hamalynen - not good enough. Its easy to criticise the club but recruitment is a hell of a lot easier if you have big budgets and a highly successful team everyone wants to play for. All I will say on that mate is we are paying Wallace something like a half million a season and you have to go back 5 seasons for the last time he played more regularly than 1 game in 3. Can complain as much as you like about limited resources, not doing ourselves any favours having 1st 11 players with that type of return on investment.

A few weeks ago MW refused to say whether Dieng was out for the season.
WLS are reporting today he could be back for the blades game.

If that really is what he is being paid and his injury record is that bad then fair comment mate, tho we as fans don't know if there is some clause in the contract about injuries - you would hope so. But there are no very cheap good options as far as I know - Sam is more the right age and has the ability but he cost about 4m (and is also injured a lot). Not sure who this cheap/ free/ always fit leftback is who is also as good as Wallace and Sam?

Why is it that our injury list is "unprecedented" as MW refers to it?
Is it due to our small squad size, bad luck, or some other reason?
For the first time yesterday he was actually asked the question in the presser that many fans have been asking for months: "What do you put our dramatic collapse (from Feb onwards) down to?" His answer was the above, so at least we got to hear his take on it. However it does beg these questions, and it really should have been the follow up one.

Did Klopp have a small squad or was he just a poor manager when he had half of his squad injured last season?

I think small squad takes its toll over time as this league is relentless and we’re seeing the fallout of it. He can’t blame anyone but himself for that as he says he likes small squad. Suppose it’s fair enough if that’s your preference but you then need ensure they players in squad are super fit and durable
Ours appear fragile and overall fitness is dubious
Perhaps 5 subs next season helps as you can drop people in and out so more options to rotate

Is that right though? 3 of them are new players. Willock was out for some time and Amos ended up playing the full game on Saturday. He has to take some of the blame here. He seems to be highlighting the issue with strength and conditioning is a long term one at the club and which is now very apparent to him. Since using players similarly to how he would have at his previous clubs there would have been no issues.

...It's a process of identifying all the long-term systemic problems at the club and addressing them. Good that he's being open and honest about it.

Yes probably. He takes a share of the blame for that and think he'll learn from it.

Got take some of the blame especially with Amos particularly when you allowed two extra subs

Possibly - and Amos was clearly desperate to come off. But in Beale's defence the bench was very weak and we were clinging on for dear life for our first win of the season. Not sure anyone who was any good was left on the bench? The Charlton game highlighted that the fringe players are not exactly pushing for a place.

46 points should be enough to stay up this season. 1 point a game...we are already ahead and on track after Saturday. No worries.

Taylor Richards out for 2 months. Can’t catch a break with injuries right now. As things stand we are a bit fucked. If no one wants any of our players we just have to dig in this season as best we can, setting the building blocks for a future promotion push

Don't forget JCS is also out too (tight hamstring), and Paal. So currently that's: Willock, Amos, Richards, JCS, Paal, three of whom are new players, so we can't really blame the rest of the coaching staff for that.
