Yeah, I get your point Esox but we CAN do better with the players we have because it is really about consistency. Sometimes they are tight, organised, no way through but other times they are running around each other, ball watching, missing runners and so intent on playing out they forget to hoof it when necessary. They can do it. I accept decent sides will give us problems but no way should awful Hull have scored the two they got today.

Watch the first goal from yesterday and you will see it was mostly a misjudgement of the bounce by BFG that led to Bowen scoring, if that had been Hugill doing it thirty metres further up the pitch it would have gone completely unnoticed, or passed of as a slight misjudgement by him. We have defensive players of a lower standard than many teams in this division and that has to be accepted as we we are where we are this season. MW did try to attract some better players before the transfer window shut but the money QPR had to offer wasn't enough. Scowen and Cameron are there to try to stem the flow through the middle but most teams this season have identified, and targetted, Manning as the weak defensive link and a vast majority of goals conceded have come from his side. It also means that Barbet is stretched trying to cover him and that is what has led to the penalties he has given away. We could drop Manning and bring Lee Wallace in to shore up that side but then I would almost guarantee that our chances and goals would start to dry up. Ideally for this side a Bardsley, Parker, Fenwick, Taiwo/ Impey back four would reduce the goals against with little effect on our goals for tally but replacements of that calibre would be way beyond out limited financial resources. After we played them last season I thought that QPR should have bought Semi Ajayi for this season but when you see how much WBA paid for him you realise what a tough task it is to bring finished articles into the side. Somewhere along the line we will keep a clean sheet but it will be as much a surprise to me as to anyone. |

Am away, so just watched highlights. All over them. Eze amazing. Classy penalties. Two rotten goals to concede though. BFG at fault for both. Keeper poor for second. If we had a decent defence the sky could be the limit. Still, very happy with that. Here's hoping.

Eze amazing. Classy penalties. What impressed me most about them was how cool, calm and collected he was in the face of all that winding up by the Hull players before taking the pens. Then shoving it back down their throats by sending their keeper the wrong way as he fell on his arse in the process.  |

So do we need better defenders or do we just need be better prepared in that department? Better prepared imo. Our defenders are good enough, certainly a lot better than we've seen so far this season. Perhaps the reason our keepers look so dodgy is because our defenders arent playing at their best. With a bit better coaching that can change. |

If Hall could get rid of his injuries, we would be so much better as a defensive unit. I have to feel sorry for him, but sooner rather than later, I think we have to go out and buy a CB of his ilk..
