gone to millwall for an undisclosed fee, probs between 500k-750k i reckon.
very effective player for us and i hope he gets more game time at millwall than he did here. thanks for giving it your all matt, some of his goals have been crucial!
just hope he has a stinker against us

Really surprised by this as we now have none of the 3 senior strikers from last year and Matt Smith has contributed some very important goals which have helped us to stay up.
He offers a different dimension and can be a nightmare to defenders, bit to mention he’s a decent weapon for any bottom half championship team to have in their team.
As things stand can’t see any sense in this sale!!

Not fussed personally. Nice to have player but comes with drawbacks
We don’t have a manager now who wants to launch the ball as plan A and Plan B so his need on that basis Is diminished
Fact he’s gone suggests bodies are coming in so I’m excited
Wonder what we got for him??

Good luck to him. Genuine player with right attitude
Never really played to his strengths. No many players have left us in recent years which I would wish good luck too but Big Matt Smith is one of them

Should have kept him bad move

We have history of hanging on to players too long. Right move for both parties. He would not be playing given Warburtons style so why retain him

Big mistake getting rid imo, unless we have 2 or 3 strikers lined up. Fingers crossed.

Very best of luck to him.
Can’t think of a single thing to criticise him for. Always gave his best, despite being part of a side not usually set up to play to his strengths.

We have no strikers now

Regarding the bodies coming in bit, you would hope so. We need 3 strikers with Smith now gone. But this is QPR.

Totally agree. They’ve got to have someone lined up, for example if smith going makes way for Scott hogan or someone of that ability I’d have driven smith there myself. We need 3 for sure

But we have manager that won’t launch the ball now even in last minute so it would not be fair on smith just to hold on to him when he will get next to no game time.
I don’t mind him as a plan B but I don’t think he would even be plan C under Warburton. If we ya e made some money then we’ll done club

I like the idea of this new boy Matt Smith playing the makelele role in front of the back four I've wanted that for years stop the goals so important
Warbourton definatly has a plan that's for sure
Strikers needed now

He will be missed.
I thought he linked up well with joel lynches 90 yard punts.

Like him or not the big man is worth more on the pitch than whatever we got for him. Watched Oteh a few times and based on what I saw would take Smith all day long over him. Just hope we do not live to regret selling him to a team who we have finished around last season.

Always had an impact off the bench so not really a fan of him going especially when the replacements are not yet at the club.

One of those transfers which its success will totally hinge on who he's replaced by! No way the club would sanction this if replacements weren't already lined up, surely

How much do you reckon we got for him?
Valued at £675k on Transfermarkt.

I've been critical of Smith but I'll still miss him. I think he'll do well at Millwall as their football will suit him, but we rightly should be thinking about playing better more ambitious football. Right move IMO though he'll probably score a last minute winner against us!

Mark Hillman reckons the fee is around £150k. Shocking if true.

We paid £522k for him 2.5 years ago. Hopefully at least made most of that back.
