Best comment I've read this week is' Smith seems to have lost some pace since he was with us'

smith is a limited player whos always someone to keep an eye on. we handled him brilliantly yesterday and they may as well have had washington on the pitch.
i really rate jed wallace for them though, far too good for their side imo.

Millwall fan told me that they're 100% he aint fit. They're not spoiled for choice.
Prior to us he'd played about 60% of their total minutes, 2 goals, one assist. He's found himself at yet another club where the byeline is alien territory, long diagonals is what we fed him.
At the other end we still cant keep a clean sheet and both our goals were Wall direct assisted. Defending is way out of fashion in this league at the mo.

Hal that just reads as excuses for him if honest when truth is he’s average at best. He never looks fit that’s just way he looks and moves
He went there for more game time so surely can’t moan when he’s getting it

Where I've always agreed with Hal is, for all his other limitations, you get the best out of Smith when he's fed perpendicular crosses, as obvious as that is. Whenever he has played in that system his form is there for all to see. Yes, he's getting more game time at Wall, but no, it appears they don't play the system that gets the best from him. I'd suggest that's more of a fact than an excuse. Either way it's no longer our problem!

Thought Millwall did play his strengths, loads of direct balls into the box so yes it’s an excuse, as said he’s average player who has no mobility. Difference was Toni owned him

loads of direct balls into the box But diagonals ones from deeper though, is the point being made, not square! :-) The video of Toni's headers bears that out. It might seem a small thing, but does make a difference with a player like that.

And crosses he just never got on that end of them

No simply because he’s not good enough. That’s difference some think he’s not getting service, others think he’s simply not up to it.
Nice honest guy, shitty footballer is my description

Look at his career stats for his goals. What % of them come from square crosses i.e. close to the byline or in line with the 18 yard box.

Quite interesting results actually. Not his whole career, but from what I could find he scored a fair amount with his feet, as well from through balls, but majority do come from square balls. Some diagonals too:

shitty footballer is my description Scored again yesterday which means that in terms of goals / minutes this term he aint doing so bad. Plus he wouldn't have been quite so intimidated by a couple of big CBs.....

First half hat trick for the big man tonight at Forest.

First half hat trick for the big man tonight at Forest. hat trick is debatable IMO, but fair play to 'wall for using him to disrupt Forest and stop them from counter attacking. I was impressed with the overall game of the lad who scored the second goal and Cooper? the centre back.

Credited with all 3, couple of decent ones, owned the penalty box.
Millwall 2 pts off a play off spot.

Rowett has them organised and solid and they have one or two half decent footballers. When you look at where they were under Harris and see where they are now you have to give Rowett huge credit.

good for smith he's an effective player at this level who'll always worry players and pop up with a goal or 3 but no regrets in letting him go.

Fair play to him. Just seen score
Assuming Forest will say it’s another average side who have taken points off them

Be interesting to see how his form compares over the entire season vs Hugill. If that had been my first senior goal in football I wouldn't have fucking given it to him, or anyone else. I bet if that had been a Matt Smith Smith shot he would have wanted it for his hat trick.

It was given to him so not sure what the issue or point is? Was a half decent servant for us and for that I am pleased he has been credited with the hat trick.

Got a lot of time for Matt Smith. Showing now what a decent manager can get out of him.
