I started it but had about 90% draws for other games, so gave up. I struggle with balancing result I want to what I think will happen!!

We need 7 wins.

Yes it is a stupid headline, but more importantly Blackburn, a team 3 points above us lost convincingly.

1 win in 5 for the mighty Rovers.

And Preston have lost 4 in 5 I believe

I did the calculator..put us to draw against Fulham but lose to Wigan..win the rest including what I thought would be a repeat of Cup Final win at the baggies..maybe I slipped up by putting a 1 nil instead of 7 nil against the tykes.
i took a crap picture of final placing but we lost out on play off place due to goal difference.

Even though I only need one more game to trigger my contract extension ?

Difficult one this, isn’t it?

On the one hand, as supporters you want your team to win every time they take to the pitch, so by default, promotion needs to be the aim.

The other alternative though is to in all likelihood, see the team that got you there through guts and determination, disbanded in favour of supposed bigger names, mercenaries and what some refer to these days as “premier league” players.

Having started going to the R’s in the early 70’s, I’ve seen a whole range of highs and lows, but on balance, I really wish that the Premier League had never been formed, along with the Champions League. I can accept that Sky have brought a lot to the table in terms of how they present the sport, the much improved analysis etc., but in my opinion, they have caused far too much damage to the game, albeit aided and abetted by the authorities who have allowed the financial side of the game to get way out of control, resulting in misery and anguish to umpteen thousands of normal football fans. Particularly those teams from the lower leagues, without whom, we wouldn’t even have the game as we knew and loved it.

The Premier League is essentially what used to be called The First Division. It just changed its name, made some cosmetic changes and brought in more money, advertising and technology, but other than the name change it's still fundamentally the same league. And the league still has four professional divisions, so no change their either. So really you could say that QPR were Premier League runners-up in 1976, which sounds very nice of course :-)

Same sort of deal with The Champions League which was previously The European Cup. They just changed the name, introduced more teams and games within a mini-league and group structure, again more investment, advertising and technology but still essentially the same competition.

The money has changed the game a lot of course as there's now a much greater divide between the few rich elite clubs and everyone else, which has overall been to the detriment of English football by making it less competitive and more of a monopoly. Smaller clubs have occasionally been able to break this monopoly with prudent investment and running, as we've seen, which does always give hope and a model to the rest of those clubs. But it's still fundamentally the same structure as it's always been, just under a different name, and less of a level playing field. It'll always be 'The Beautiful Game' to me though.

I know. It's what the UEFA cup used to be, which is why that's now become less prestigious along with its failed re-branding known as the Europa League.

And yes, The Champions League is a total misnomer.

Promotion would be great.

It won’t happen this season but going up with someone like Warburton makes me think it would be done properly and money would be spent wisely
