We never turned up for the final but we did beat Scum twice that season, agg 8-0. Good days.

When we pulled the second goal back, or rather the bin dippers pulled it back for us , I was thrown into the crush barrier as we celebrated and was winded. I bent over as the the second wave hit me and bounced my head off the barrier and was knocked unconscious. This was right by the wooden barrier in the Kemlyn Road stand and after I recovered consciousness on the touchline with the St. Johns in attendance I also felt a severe pain in my thigh. My brother later informed that a copper on the other side of the barrier vaulted it to try to stop the pushing and landed his size twelves firmly on my leg As the final whistle blew I was one of those who ran on the pitch (waving my silver thermal blanket LOL). The excitement hadn't finished either, as the football special pulled out of Edge Hill a brick came through the window where I was sitting and whilst luckily, I wasn't injured by the glass, the guard decided that those fans in that carriage would have to spend the journey back to London in the mail car which was fucking freezing and my leg was throbbing like a bastard. It's probably one of the main reasons I dislike them more than any other club, along with Luton.

an absoloute disaster at Wembley.
Terrible day. At least we actually made it to a final, seems unimaginable these days. Even more so than when we got there first time round, from old div 3. We were much more forward looking then.
Had my first bet (£1) as a nipper on us that day vs W.Brom with school bookie (older flash kid). Needless to say never got paid out.

67 probably in football terms the best day of my life.12 shillings and 6 pence for a seat at Wembley still got the ticket stub and signed team photo. I was 14,the football that season was magical and the atmosphere at Loftus Road was brilliant so loud and boisterous, great times

1966 to 1969 must have been brilliant, very sad I missed it.
I wish my late dad was more of a football fan, though he occasionally took me to watch Fulham or Chelsea, never Rangers.
Occasionally, we’d go off to a evening game, normally Chelsea, it didn’t sway me, Loftus Rd was the place for me.
I remember one night we watched the scum play Everton, 50 odd thousand at scumford bridge in a 2-2 draw.
Then after the game, Pie and Mash opposite the Hammersmith Odeon, i think it was called Taylors, then a rockling of mum as she hadn’t a clue where we’d been.

I have no clue as to the actual number but it seems like we took over 10k fans up there.

I was 13 when we won at Wembley and even though I'd been to many games by then that match is the first one I remember in any great detail. The Villa game the season later was great. The Holt End was a massive terrace in those days and Plod split it down the middle for away fans and home so the noise was crazy. There were a few coins coming over too.

I went semi final first leg at Brum we won 4-1. I have recordings on tape of the tv coverage by bbc for both legs. Introduced by Frank Bough and commentator the late great Kenneth Wolstenhome.
