Loved Diakite. Should have signed him permanently😀 Thought we did? I was joking. Wish he’d played like he did on loan but think he had some family tragedy?

I missed that game, I was in the middle east working, i got back to the hotel and we were 2-0 down, utterly amazed when I woke to see we’d won.

I was joking. Wish he’d played like he did on loan but think he had some family tragedy? The facts seem a bit clouded on this but the story went that he lost some family members in the civil war in Mali but other reports say his immediate family were in Paris during that period. Maybe it was cousins and neighbours that died but there is no doubt it affected him very badly and he never recovered. The first couple of games he played for us, I thought we had the next Patrick Viera in the Hoops. He is definitely someone I believe would have fared better under the current regime.

I remember his short debut at home to Fulham. Scything down players like he was chopping down trees 🤣 think he last about 20 minutes
Had a quality spell once he settled
Although didn't he go missing for quite a few games at the end of the season?

I think Diakite’s impact in that 2nd half of season is understated by many. They were games like arsenal where he gets credit but even in defeat like vs Man U at old Trafford, he was immense protecting the back 4. Against Sunderland, he went off, we capitulated. He just has that turn of speed and long legs that meant he could glide past players with ease. It’s so typically qpr that something tragic should happen to him and he is never the same again.

They've got the full 90 minutes of the remarkable Fulham v QPR 2016 game on the QPR Facebook page: www.facebook.com/OfficialQPRFC/videos/2715415181887031/Remarkable for so many reasons: three absolute rarities: A Conor Washington goal (even that was a lucky deflection off the original BFG Seb Polter), and appearances from Olamide Shodipo and Niko Hammaleinen. Remarkable because it's less than 4 years ago but just two players remain for us, Grant Hall and Shodipo. Remarkable because it features two penalties to Fulham, one saved by the brilliant Alex Smithies and one missed. And remarkable because it was our first win over the Cottagers since 1980. Our starting 11 features fan favourite villains Lynch, Caulker and Washington. Karl Henry is our midfield general. Tjaronn Chery our creative A.M. Sylla scores the winner. Although Shodipo only gets 30 minute he shows what I've always said: great crossing ability, penetrating runs, a bloody decent winger. Scott Parker stars for the Fools until he goes off injured. All in all, a very enjoyable watch.

Arrived at the ground off my face, left a work do early to get there (we'd been on it since about 1pm) and remember every single bit of this. Up there in one of the best games I've experienced as a QPR fan.
