Just watched documentary about Maradona. There was Terry Fenwick playing against him in World Cup 1986. Started wondering why isn't he popular among QPR fans?

To try to shake Maradona's hand as he skipped past him. Liked Terry as a player. Played in midfield for Rangers and centre back for England. Those were the days....

Was decent for us, He had been booked in the game against Argentina otherwise he would have taken Maradona out for the 2nd goal. I put him in the Seaman and Sinton bracket as far as how he is percieved by the supporters.

Agree with the positive comments but he was one of those players who was also a liability, he gave away lots of stupid free kicks on the edge of the box. Sod being booked, the team comes first and in any other match he would have put the cheating little fat bastard in the stand. If he misses the next match tough, he's done his job. If I remember the clip correctly couldn't Peter Reid also have knocked him over? He wasn't usually averse to getting his foot in.

when it comes to that infamous world cup game against argentina did we actually have any chance of winning?
my dad said the hand of god goal doesn't bother him much as maradona was completely next level in that game anyway and we'd most likely have lost regardless

Could have got something out of that at the death. Would have been robbery though.

It bothers me corbs because the guy was so revered when he should have been called out as a cheat. Could say the same about Franny Lee, even that paragon of virtue Thierry Henry to be fair.

Not to relitigate old history, Alan, but the referee and the lineman were at fault, not the player whoever he was. Had Bobby punched the Derby winner in at Wembley, I'd gleefully have taken that. It's the way it is. Nothing takes anything away from that second goal.

Agree with 77 in that the 2nd goal waa scored by an absolute genius of a footballer and the 1st was by the cheat within Maradona. Fenwick should have taken him out on the edge of the area before he beat Stevens and Shilton.

Henry gets off lightly but cheated the same , how the ref didn't see it was beyond me . I believe the ref and both lino saw wat Mara had done . Fenwicks goal one of my happiest memories I'd been up since Friday morning it was only the buzz of the day keeping me going
