If I was Blues I would demand any deduction this season as they will be safe. Starting 12points down next season would be a death sentence

How much were Wolves done for buying promotion? Any transfer ban?

Unlikely to drop though for the forseeable which makes a mockery of the ruling. 100 million worth of players in the championship shows that. Any fine is offset by the revenue gained for gaining promotion.

Wolves have Mendes and we had Kia which was ultimately put us where we are now. Yes Redknapp was involved but 2012 summer was where it all started

How much were Wolves done for buying promotion? Any transfer ban? They lost £52 million in that season but because they went up they are not subject to the FFP rules. This is the gamble a lot of clubs are taking and they can't all go up.

They can and will when they sign Neves and Jota to name two.

Why points and not a fine? Why are FFP punishments not consistent?

Why points and not a fine? Why are FFP punishments not consistent? I think this is the first punishment delivered under the "new" FFP rules? More about ongoing sustainability: for every pound they earn they are spending £2.65 or something like that. It's all bs and I think they make it up as they go along

Does that include a sanction for breaching their transfer embargo last summer? They signed Pedersen when they were under embargo, and it was being investigated separately I think.

If a team breaching FFP can't withstand a 9 point deduction what's the world coming to? After all they paid for those points.

Will make them sit up and think for the last 8 games. May have a real negative affect on them, I'd blame the tool who ran on the pitch a few weeks back

Why points and not a fine? Why are FFP punishments not consistent? Because - you guessed it - the rules have changed. This isn't an FFP sanction. This is the first sanction under EFL 'sustainability' rules. You could argue that in changing the santion format from FFP the EFL themselves are not playing with a particularly straight bat since arguably FFP sanctions were harsher, although that is hard to quantify.

Basically the message is spend enough so that 9 points doesn't matter.

The next couple of seasons in the Championship will be interesting. Lots of sides are going to fall foul of FFP, and salaries will drop across the board. The big negative is that the gulf between the Premier League and the rest is only going to get bigger, and sides that go up will most likely be scared of spending money.

I don't think there will be anywhere near the money bandied out for football rights from the likes of Sky and BT. That will rein in the immoral amounts paid in wages and especially agents fees
