Apparently the proposed takeover is off, and the club now face a winding up order tomorrow. Bloody sad to see. Never had a problem with Bolton, awful that this sort if thing happens to clubs like them while the bigger ones can piss money up the wall and get away with it. With regards to our game, if they get wound up does it go ahead? Do we immediately get 3 points?

some decent non-league clubs gone to the wall because they owe the taxman as little as £10k. Then you got a manure player reported to be on £500,000 a week and can't get into the team. Bolton demise must not be allowed to happen. The FA must step in

That would be sad given how old the club is etc
The only problem I ever had was that season when Clint Hills header was about two feet over the line and not given. However, we stayed up and they went down that season so it was dealt with.
We wouldn't wish this on any club would we? Well maybe just the one!

As I understand it, they are likely to go into admin and receive an immediate 12 point deduction. Dunno what that means for the players that aren't being paid. Surely they are within their rights to walk away if they choose to?!!

Don't see any exception here. someone will buy the club for a quid and it will see out the season at the very least.

Shows you that our own position could be a hell of a lot worse. Fucking criminals ruining decent old clubs. It’s a disgrace really and I hope they get it resolved.

Exactly Greg, I have said in another place that we should be careful what we wish for. For all the mess they've made of it over the last 6 or 7 years you could argue that we're lucky they are still prepared to waste their money. Let's hope they get their pay off eventually and don't pull the plug on us.

Have to admit ,when they took us over ,i was convinced they would just fuck off and leave us when the going got tough ,but so far ive been proved wrong , long may that continue. As for Bolton , i genuinely hope someone comes in for them , id hate for ANY club to go under , every club has fans who would lose a chunk of their very selves if their club went under , even fulham ( that said ,at least half of those twats would piss off back to the rugger without giving two shits )

I see they have been given a further 14 days to sort this out.
Hopefully they will do it this time.

I remember going to Bolton by coach on a Friday night back in the 80s. It pissed it down for most of the night and we lost one nil I think. I used to love away games like that! Anyone else remember the LSA coach breaking down en route back from Bury and having to get the equivalent of a commuter bus back from about halfway down? It was quite a funny night even though we lost. A couple of the C Mob got thrown out of the ground for starting to strip off in the rain. When they were being thrown out my mate said how ridiculous so the police said "you can go as well then". He went down with them where they were searched and evicted from the ground. They then suggested going in a pub near the ground where after an altercation involving a pool cue and a juke box they got chased out of the pub. My mate ended up standing in the car park where he could see about 5% of the pitch getting soaked.

I think they are bound to go out of business this summer. Such a shame. I just hope the fans can rebuild and start again in a similar fashion to AFC Wimbledon.

Apparently Brentford have been awarded 3 points and a 1-0 win as their fixture against Bolton has been cancelled. Bolton were unable to guarantee they could get enough people in to confirm the stadium's general safety certificate. Sad day.

Might be an idea if the league set out formal procedures for such situations, in case they should occur again.
Swap Brentford for a team possibly getting top two, top six or even in the relegation mix and they could have had a whole world of trouble on their hands.

Didn't Middlesbrough do something similar a few years back? Didn't play because of so called illness in the camp.

Well, if by a “few years” you mean 1997. 😂 Doesn’t time fly? Here’s a bit about it, including Steve Gibson’s letter to the league. miniboro.com/the-three-point-fiasco-steve-gibsons-letter
