Well done boys positive ending to season.

Decent result and performance today which was needed. The thing to take from this season is the keeper and defence are shit and need help. Whether the manager agrees to it or not a defensive coach is needed to sort out things like stick to your man at corners or keep someone on the post as well.

Well that more exciting than many of us expected. Keegan style of football we outscore you. Good way to end the home campaign.
60 points after we win midweek will be respectable finish

Lucky those disallowed goals didn't stand....!
Much better attacking display but struggled a fair bit at the back towards the end.

We've finally recaptured the form going into lockdown. Some absolutely sublime attacking play, especially in the 2nd half. Such a shame we're still so utterly useless at defending. The story of the season.

The story of the season. Will be the same next season unless someone gets into the manager about coaching basic defending.

No, we made them look shit. If you put people on the post you lose people defending ball in the box Do both?!

Only so many players Stan can’t do everything something has to give. Do you try and win the first ball or defend the second? would add I don’t actually think where that ball went man on post even clears it as it went in my view down middle

When you're defending a corner you can afford to have an extra man on the post.

Nonsense Westy. How many men do attacking teams have in the box minus the taker and keeper means we have more players to defend the box. Watch Hutchinson's goal the centre loses him on the move and the guy gets in front and nods it in. Defending is about organisation and someone taking the lead, Prime example of a top defender in recent years for us who looked after the box was Richard Dunne as he showed with 10 men at Wembley.

Ok so you say man at back post. What happens if it goes in at the front do you want man their too??
I do get the pros and cons of men on postS also get the pros and cons of zonal marking. Suppose comes down to philosophy (or lack of one in Warburton) he clearly wants more people attacking first ball

Watch any of the top teams when they commit to attack..they overload players in wide positions..Leeds and Sheffield Utd have three on two playing triangular passes..we did similar today in first half with daisy chain,Eze and Chair down the left.
Today summed up our season perfectly,so good in periods but so bad in others.

I’ve always thought better way of defending Corners is to leave two men up field to turn defensive position into a potential attacking one but it’s risky. But two men up field takes minimum of three maybe four of theirs out attack

You should always have two spare men defending corners anyway, as opponents have one taking corner and then usually leave two back to defend against the lone man we'd leave on halfway line. Easy enough to defend both posts.

Suppose comes down to philosophy (or lack of one in Warburton) he clearly wants more people attacking first ball I would definitely have one on each post. Warburton often does neither. The problem is further compounded by his persistence with zonal marking. The best teams are built on solid defences.

But Warburton wants use those spare men to contest ball in. We don’t have to agree with him but that’s the plan
