Loved his attitude and application and we have had worse players than the Mac play for us.

Not the most gifted but always gave his all. Will be long remembered for his goals away to Derby, Ipswich and Man City, and at home to Liverpool. Integral part of Warnock's Champions side. Good luck Jamie.

A really honest give your all player.
A rarity in todays game.
Thanks for the memories Jamie.

I see this on lfw
"Good morning guys, first time poster here. I’ve been a long-term reader and although haven’t posted before, I wanted to share this.
I’m on holiday at the moment in Sorrento and on our first day here, we settle down at a bar on the beach. I look to my left and I see who I thought, looked like Jamie Mackie, with his wife and another couple, clinking glasses, a few tables away. I wouldn’t usually bother someone famous or recognisable but he’s a Rangers legend and has just retired, so I wanted to at least wish him well. Either that, or I’d be embarrassing myself in front of a few strangers. Turns out, there really is only one Jamie Mackie and I ended up having a 20 minute chat with him about all things Rangers and his plans for the future. I went back to my table where a few minutes later, the waitress brought over two beers, pointed at his table and said it was from them. I looked over at his table to nod and mouth a thanks and he’s already looking across with a thumbs up.
Before I left, I went over again to say thanks (for the beers and for his services to Rangers) and ended up chatting for another 10 minutes.
He couldn’t have been more friendly and genuine and seemed touched by the fact I’d come over.
I didn’t ask anything controversial about his time at the club but he mentioned that he’s still good friends with Barton, Derry, Taarabt, Hill, Hall and Helguson. He also said Taarabt was a nutcase (which we all knew!) I mentioned that I was a season ticket holder and asked if he would come back to Rangers in some capacity and he said that now that he’s retired he’ll be there every week watching the team and that out of all the clubs he played for, Rangers mean the most to him.
His friends and wife were also very welcoming and talkative. His mate was also an ex-pro called Jamal - he used to play for Crystal Palace and Swansea (where he played with Angel Rangel) and now looks after a couple of Rangers players, I presume, as an agent.
I might be coming across as a bit of a “fanboy” with this post but at a time like this where the news seems to be about negative stories, I thought I’d share a positive one."

Top lad is Jamie Mackie. Met him a couple of times and he's always had time for a chat. Him and Clint are probably the 2 nicest & most down to earth of all the professional footballers I've met over the years.

love mackie but he makes me cringe at the same time because of a bad memory involving him lol.
i was stuck in traffic going through richmond and was looking round as you do and saw mackie near enough right next to the van. i'll admit that i was a bit starstruck, he was one of my favourite players for us when i was growing up and was a key figure for us in one of my favourite ever games (city vs qpr). so i shouted "mackie! you rs!!" and happily shook my fist.
i expected him to just smile and move on, as jose mourinho, aaron hughes, lee dixon and angel rangel have done in the past when i stumbled across them. but like fuck he did. he stopped in his tracks and started having a chat with me, and me in my dumb fucking cunt of a mind couldn't string a proper sentence together. he went "you a QPR fan mate? nice to meet you, you keeping well?" and i replied in an almost special needs type way "i-i-i loved you at city" ffs lol.
my brain just wouldn't work, i had little ideas of what to say but instead said pointless shit and stuttered for the 5 minutes we talked. eventually he bid me farewell and went off, i immediatly dropped my head into my hands and started slapping myself for coming across as autistic as was humanly possible without requireing a full time carer.
still makes me cringe to this day when i think about it. real nice guy though lol.

All this name-dropping 'I met Jamie Mackie' bollocks...
Well, I had a holiday job delivering self-drive hire cars to customers and one of the biggest clients was the BBC in Wood Lane.
I was waiting in reception for someone to come and sign for the car and only sat next to Freda the Blue Peter tortoise in a box filled with straw - beat that!!!

PS - loved Jamie Mackie. 100% every game, can't ask for any more than that.
And that goal in the 3-2 win over Liverpool - priceless!
