Where's Esox?

Just checked the dot.org. Was posting there on thursday, so probably just taking a break on here.

I think there was a dust up over something or other and he just left without saying goodbye!

Esox wound me up over non QPR stuff, which is unusual, because I'm thick skinned and don't take myself seriously. I always thought him an excellent and knowledgeable poster on QPR matters (and street food.....). Should you be reading this, Esox, I hope you're well. In so far as I had anything to do with your departure (there may be more to it), I hope you might drop in and talk some Rangers stuff again.

Hope he's back soon. Enjoy his posts, they make for good debates.

You guess wrongly. Wasn’t going to comment, but as you seem intent on stirring the pot, I will.

In order that everyone can be perfectly clear of the facts rather than make incorrect assumptions, Esox stopped posting of his own accord. Absolutely nothing in place to prevent him posting again should he so choose.

As far as I’m concerned and I think Stanley would agree, for the most part, he was a really good poster and made many valuable contributions to debates. I’ve actually met him face to face and he seemed like a perfectly decent fella. Unfortunately, he seemed unwilling to follow a few pretty simple rules. Rules that everyone else seemed to manage. To his credit, he chose to stop posting himself. But for the avoidance of doubt, he absolutely would have been banned if he had continued to deliberately disrespect this site and its members. But then again, so would anybody else who did the same.

To address Hal’s point directly, nobody left the site specifically because of Esox. At least 3 posters that we know of took a break for a while. We know this because of their PM’s. Mainly because they had no desire to see political posts occurring way too frequently on a football forum, but also because they had seen how sites can be ruined by certain people thinking that the rules don’t apply to them. There’s actually another thread on here, alluding to such. Hence the reason for a separate section needing to be created, in which by the way, as expected, hardly anyone ever posts anything, completely vindicating that decision. 

A far bigger loss in my opinion, was that of Hubble, one of our original members and a long standing one from elsewhere, who came here along with most of you. The reason he no longer posts, (albeit he did comment on the facemask thread the other day), is because he doesn’t like a site where the QPR related stuff is kept separate from other topics of interest. Personally, I can’t quite see why that would be an issue, but I guess we all have our little idiosyncrasies. It was of course, a situation brought about entirely due to Esox not adhering to the rules, so maybe people should consider that before feeling sorry for someone who appeared to be intent on causing trouble.

As ever, I am always happy to respond to any questions members on here may have about this site and all anyone need do is send me a PM to ask them if they so wish. Much preferable to me, than having to make responses like this because some like to seek attention.

What snide digs? Feel free to point out one single occasion when I’ve said anything to you, or about you, which has been unfair.

I intensely dislike having to make long, serious posts such as above. To me, they always come across as a bit “preachy”. But we started this site for a reason. And I have a responsibility to ensure it is run in the way we promised it would. And likewise, members of it have a responsibility not to behave in a way that threatens that. So no, sorry, I won’t be ignoring you.

More than happy to afford you the same courtesies as I would anybody else and discuss any concerns you may have in private. Up to you if you choose to engage or not, but to be clear, this thread or any other isn’t the place for those conversations, hence it’ll now be closed. Therefore, please don’t attempt to continue this other than via PM.
