I saw Bristol City signed Chris Martin today on a free which I think is a very smart move for them. I haven’t seen many rumours over the last few days linking us with many people. There’s the Arsenal reserve striker every one raves about that I believe us and Brentford have enquires about! 30 year old Nakhi Wells with 3 years to run on an expensive deal plus 31 year old Chris Martin on a 2 year deal, also likely on reasonably big money. What could possibly go wrong? I'd sooner we keep doing what we are doing and scour the market for a bit more value myself.

Tbf Martin and Wells is not a bad partnership at all - We all know what Wells can do and Martin is very effective in the league.
I’m glad we didn’t get Martin as I think we got more younger and dynamic version in Dykes. I know love to see us sign a younger version of Wells who is nippy and a fox in the box.
At the same time I imagine if we had Wells and Martin at our disposal this year I would imagine most of us would be pretty happy with that?

Totally missing the point, which was they are both being paid a significant whack and are both contracted until they are 33 years old. Not the sort of business that we do anymore, and rightfully so. I'll add that like both players. Can't say hand on heart that I reckon they'll provide value for money towards the end of their contracts though. And for a Championship side the last thing you want is a 30 something year old striker on 30 grand a week that's forgotten how to put the ball in the net!

Viktor Gyokeres from Brighton has also been mentioned as a possible target. Swedish striker.

At this point I'm hopeful for almost any striker. We have 0 this weekend and 1 for the season. Oteh doesn't count.

Ain't gonna cut it. But Smyth can do a job up front, and Ramkilde needs more time. A couple of cameos ain't enough to judge after the injuries he's had. He was a very highly rated youth player. Without the injuries he could well have been playing at a higher level by now by all accounts. Yeah, we need to bring in at least 1 more striker. Maybe 2 in fact. My suspicion is that we are playing a waiting game on the hope of getting a striker in on a cheap(ish) loan, just like we've done the last 2 seasons.

I just hope Oteh plays tomorrow and scores a couple. Nice thought. Very much doubt it'll happen though.

I like the idea of having midfielders who can deputise if need be, but I'd rather we had enough cover up front to not have that need.

Right side of a 3 up top or playing off the front man. BOS can do that job too. 1 more Championship standard striker and I think we are OK up top. 2 more and we are strong.
