Without a club and available.
I’d take him if wages permitted. Big, strong, imposing player who loves a shot too.
I’m sure at this stage of his career he won’t be demanding a fortune.
Thoughts?

not for me, well past it now and not been good at this level for 2-3 seasons. plus we have cameron and ball who play in that role already.
if we were to get another defensive midfielder i'd rather we went for jackson irvine, solid player at this level and still only 26

Not for me.
he never really busted a gut in his prime, when on 30k per week.
cannot see him putting in a shift at our place for 6 or 8 grand per week.
priority for me is strikers, keeper and a winger.

Cameron and Ball were poor for majority of last season.
A younger experienced defensive midfielder is essential to move forwards.
Huddlestone is not mobile but certainly better than both Cameron and Ball.

He was a very good player in his day. He's only managed 40 games or so in the last 2 seasons though. Knocking on a bit, few injuries. Maybe more hassle than he's worth.

Not much of an upgrade on Cameron really, but if he can accept modest wages and is a good character in the dressing room then I wouldn´t be against it, as we´ve got next to no seasoned pros in the team anymore. Been many years at Spurs, so Les and Chris will know all about his character, I suppose.

It all depends what Huddlestone has left in the tank though. He's had a fair few injuries over the years.

Huddlestone was a far better footballer in his day True, but as you would probably agree, we haven´t seen the best of Huddlestone for a good number of years now.

Was a very decent player when he was younger with great range of passing.

Both Ball and Cameron seem unable to regularly complete simple 10 yard passes to teammates ,which often gives away possession in dangerous areas of the pitch. Despite this Ball never hides and I can’t fault his attitude.

Regarding short passes, that is what Tom Carrol is good at.

Cameron was superb for us until that bad injury he got at dirty Leeds under McClaren. He was pulling the strings for us until then. Has he been the same player since? Yes in patches but not as consistent. His experience can’t be undervalued though. Ball has been solid enough IMO. Not technically great but knows his weaknesses and plays to his strengths. More consistent than Amos.

Think he’s good player but reckon wages will be too high for us. He’s 33......not 43.

Think he’s good player but reckon wages will be too high for us. He’s 33......not 43. Injuries make a difference though mate. Ben Watson for example is 36 but has been relatively injury free and played nearly every game for Forest last year. Huddlestone not so much and has played less than half of Derby's games in the last 2 seasons. Despite being 3 years older, I'd favour Watson out of the 2 if it was a choice of either or on a free transfer.

Thought he had a pretty decent season tbh and established himself as a first team player.

Was very good as a young lad at Derby and Spurs but the bloke just cannot run anymore. If we are looking at a defensive midfielder then I would look at loaning McDonald from Fulham. Does the dirty stuff and is very good at protecting the back four.
