But you don't want to be undermining the captain either as that's bad for moral and team spirit. A captain still needs leadership qualities even if he's not the only one that's got them. do you seriously think manning or BOS morale would drop if Cameron never got selected or rashford gives a shit if maguire never played. Come on man

Come on man No, saying you can't have lots of captains if the real one isn't up to it. He'd get no respect. Truth is we haven't got a captain in the squad.

Wallace captained Rangers, and should play more games than Cameron. On that basis I'd give it to him.

I've always said the keeper should be captain. Has to be vocal, can see everything on the pitch.

Westy has completely misunderstood my point. no You have mine. I believe the captains role is pointless so it don’t matter who the captain is. I would be quite happy if they done away with the captains role as it would make no difference IMO

Whatever anyone thinks, we still need to name a captain, and if we had a leader who was a guaranteed starter, I would make him skipper.
I don't see too many leaders out there, and that's an issue whether you make them captain or not.
Your old fashioned skipper is someone the lads respect, someone who leads by example ie not disappearing when the heat gets turned up. I happen to think we could do with that.

Would give it to Dykes as he has a go for a full 90 minutes and seems to like the responsibility that a captain role would bring and he is a certain starter. The Roy Keane, Tony Adams type captains are unfortunately a thing of the past.

Wearing the armband would mean more to most players if it was clear that it had to be earned..not just handed out to underachievers. didnt mean to quote you 73

I put Dykes up based on application and hunger and drive shown so far. Also being an Aussie he has a bit about him that just may rub off on others. Stepped up to International football and scored two penalty box goals so why not give him it.
