Loves an injury does our Lyndon 🙄 thought Aussies were supposed to be rock hard we seem to have found the only two in him and zelic who were made of paper mache. Pretty unfair as he has played 80 % of all possible games he's been with us.

I think Lyndon is least of our problems to be honest. When he’s playing, we’re better side.

He's not got an amazing ratio but he has a roughly 1 in 4 ratio so on average will knock in 10-12 goals a season. We need a better main man up front but need to focus the immediate attention in that area on finding an alternative to Armstrong who has a ratio of 1 in 32.

I’m more concerned about someone who is making the “transformational” decisions on the touchline.

It’s very easy to distort goals per game figures for Armstrong when it’s clear that many of his 32 games were as late sub before this season.
In total Donkey has scored 30 goals from 129 games which include 8 from successful pens and 2 missed. The large majority of these matches he was part of a much better performing side and he was still virtually ineffective in most games.
I don’t think there’s too much difference between both players if purely judged on goal scoring prowess right now but Armstrong at least poses a regular threat with his pace, and power, what natural threat does Donkey pose for opponents in the vast majority of games.
For clarity, both players have scored just one goal each this season which says we need to be creating more effectively worked chances per game rather than bitching about players snatching at random opportunities.

'Minutes Per Goal' stat gives a more accurate metric. I've posted these up previously. It's all on www.transfermarkt.co.ukwhat natural threat does Donkey pose for opponents Headed goals from crosses into the box. Has shown he has a prowess for that. Granted, still a 1 in 4 striker.

Armstrong creates defenders problems until the moment opponents realise that he's a kid who's out if his depth and they have him in their pocket. That's the bitter reality. You hate Dykes - which is why you can't bring yourself to call him by his name - which is your perogative but I would question why anyone would want a kid who didn't set the World alight at National League level nevermind Championship level to have a free pass. Neither is great but one has shown us what he can do at this level and although it's not much its better than Armstrong. The latter may turn things around but at the moment we are destroying his whole career and we need to do the right thing.

The one thing that pisses me off most about the striker ‘debate’ is the speed at which fans are on the trail of Armstrong when the patience shown to Donkey has been remarkable and undeserved.

The one thing that pisses me off most about the striker ‘debate’ is the speed at which fans are on the trail of Armstrong when the patience shown to Donkey has been remarkable and undeserved. Because he has shown he can achieve a certain standard that Armstrong has never even hinted at... it really is that simple. No one is going to come on here and suggest that Dykes is the best striker we have ever had- or even close to it - but as I said before, there's a reason why strikers who don't score goals are as popular as flat chested strippers. For whatever reasons Armstrong has ONE goal to his name as a QPR player. That's to add to the 4 he scored in the National League THREE seasons ago which are the only competive goals he has as a professional. He's not ready and although there may be an argument that he has been thrown into the situation- and I would agree with that - we have two options: 1) Pretend all is well and he'll soon unleash his inner Clive Allen 2) Acknowledge the truth and put pressure on the club/Ainsworth to do the right thing and drop him.

Dykes is a fraud of a footballer, he coasts through 90% of matches doing nothing of relevance for his size and physique. From immediate memory Armstrong had a 1 in 3 record from around a dozen matches at National League level but even then he was mainly used as sub. Hes not getting a free ride from me, he’s earned some patience because he’s an inexperienced 20yr old playing in a shit team and is at least trying to give 100% effort. How many of Donkeys 129 games have you seen him give 100% effort?

I get how frustrating it is to have seen us go from Allen, Stainrod, Bannister, Ferdinand to Dykes. The fact that he's our main man up front is a cruel reminder of how far we've slipped but that's a completely different question being asked to is Armstrong ready or not. As said before, it is possible to acknowledge both that Dykes isn't great and Armstrong isn’t ready. Both are true. Also you're not being disloyal by admiting that Armstrong isn’t ready yet. We all want what is best for the club and it is so evident that the best thing for both QPR and Armstrong is for him to be nowhere near the first team it is astonishing.

Serious question: when would you drop Armstrong? Now, if we had anyone better. That’s the problem - neither of them are any good. We need to play differently if we persist with either of them but at least, as Sparks says, Armstrong gets about and tries. We’re in a shocking state up top.

Dont want to burst your bubble but most people have seen Donkey for 3 seasons and think he’s shit. Take a real good look at the poll on this forum for worst QPR striker ever!!!! Is it just coincidence that Beale and even dopey Ainsworth have thought Donkey is not worth a place up front.

Forget Donkey’s scoring record, he is total and utter wank when it comes to giving defenders a problem. Very true that we don’t make many chances but his job isn’t just to hang around waiting. Start mixing it, work harder and we may get a break or a team mate might benefit from a mistake. He wins fuck all in the air and his positional sense is schoolboy.

Any poll which has Dykes as the worst striker in our history shouldn't be taken seriously, we all know that. Opinions about Dykes are rooted in the frustration we all feel from watching the decline over the last few years and the stark reminder that he is all we can afford now. He's not great but nowhere near the worse. He's not 'shit' either but an average player who has a not so great scoring record but one consistent with his ability. We can't do much better than him with our budget but we can do better than Armstrong as Chris Martin showed and if we can't even afford someone like him on a free then it is time to give one of the other young forwards a chance or choose a different system.

Yes, maybe his last 2 or 3 goals he’s scored could suggest he’s not had the right type of regular service in his time here but I can only judge him on what he’s shown. When he first arrived he was putting himself around a lot more but that changed,, somewhere on here I put a stat up comparing his yellow cards whilst at Livingston to his second season with us where they fell off dramatically here. Is he he giving 100% effort in most games, not for me he’s not. Your link for Armstrong on transfermarket don’t work for me Stan.
