At Reading away, the game following Ale's ACL injury, the team saluted him by displaying his shirt during the goal celebration. Noteworthy nothing like that happened Weds for Amos. That might be because we failed to score, but I doubt it..... Team spirit, so evident in our successful seasons like 2010-11, 2013-14 and, yes, the tail end of 2011-12, is a big part of team success. Lacking foreign superstars, it all depends on having a collection of geezers in the squad; the Clints, the Derrys, the Joeys, the Heidars, the Charlies, the Kelvins..... We've got a lot of what seem a nice bunch of fellas, but not too many geezers.
Probably nonsense, but still.

To be fair, by that point Ale was a long-serving Ranger and was held in very high regard by the fans. Amos has been here a year, thats not to say he won't become as well-liked a player as Ale was, but he's not there yet.

We need to build that but I'm not sure who we build it around? Derry and Hill were masterstrokes - instant recognition from the fans with their songs. I can't think of one player song from last season now Eze and Wells have gone. We still sing about Gallen and Buszaky ffs. Warnock's team was an obvious unit and that has to count for something.

Very true, Alan. Great point about the singing. Even the Eze's too good for you, sounded half hearted to me, even away from home (where fans sing more). Eze, a lovely player and a nice guy, is neither a geezer or a character. Adel being a character, not a geezer. Is it them or us? Both?

Got to be both mate, we don't lift them at home it's like a morgue. Much more interaction between players and fans away.

Looking at the squad not only is it at least 2 players below the stipulated 25 but unbalanced.
1 too many Keepers
At least 1 short of a recognised C/ B
Lacking physique in M/F areas
At least 1 short of an experienced creative M/F player
No real Captain or leader amongst the players
There’ are a number of players there that are not good enough and need moving on.
Next season when it’s a 20 Man squad it needs to be imperative to get the squad balance correct.
