Friend of mine,Rangers fan in Wallington has just had his oven cleaned by none other than Ian Dawes ! Apparently he was a lovely chap , but didn't seem keen on talking about his Rangers days . Done a blinding job on the oven by all accounts ! So if your in the suburbs of South London , Ian is your man !

Yes, I thought I had mentioned Ian before on here. I used to know him well when he played for us. He was good mates with a lad that used to come with us and comes from the Croydon area. We drove with his parents to his QPR debut away at Rotherham (nil nil I think) and for several seasons he let a couple of us use his complimentary tickets in SA Road. Unbelievably he nearly turned out for our Sunday League team once whilst playing for us under Venables in the first division. He was just worried he would get seen and get in trouble. Imagine him playing in the Croydon Sunday League division 8 or whatever it was!
I lost touch with him but my brother still knows him via his and Dawesies wife. He went to my brothers wedding about 5 years ago and I had a good catch up with him. He was still up to date with the QPR team and how we were doing. A really nice bloke and was one of our best full backs.

Wise move not playing Sundays! I used to be friends with ex-pro, not particularly well known but he still got the shit kicked out of him by muppets trying to make a point.

My mate played Sunday league against Trevor brooking,said u couldn't get near enough to kick him,xixnt move mu h just banged superb balls all over the pitch

The funny thing was Al that as this was pre Sky days and only the flair players were that well known I really don't think anyone would have recognised him. Thinking back, that wasn't a consideration at all, just whether he might get injured playing. |

Plenty of ex pros still playing vets football we played manor fc last season they had barry hayles up front and Jamie lawrence and Sean davis in midfield . Merson was playing for southside vets 3 weeks ago at marble hill park over Richmond bridge . Ascot utd vets had Tor andre flo playing up until a few years ago

Modern hobs are so sensitive and fragile, it seems you can't look away for a paltry 28 and a half minutes without something going wrong..... |

As you say just ran the show even though he was in his forties. I was in goal, and he didn't get one past me!!! |
