A winning formula though Stan. Croys, IMO it's getting to the stage where he'll need to consider tweaking his starting 11, as there are too many non-performers in that line-up. Invariably we've been winning all these games mainly as a result of his substitutions from the 55-65 min mark. Add to that the fact it's a fairly small squad, plus we're playing twice a week on average - all takes its toll. Last night's performance against a poor side certainly showed it. They are not that poor and we are not that good.

As for the facts: On their current form they are certainly poor - 2nd bottom in the table going into the game (their performance last night evidenced this too). Equally undeniable has been our excellent form going into the game (2nd top in the table), the rise commencing Dec 29.

We all know what this league is like though Stan. There is never a given. Who would have had Bristol City 3-0 up at HT away at Boro on Tuesday? Preston are on a bad run but they have some nice players and as we saw earlier in the season they are no mugs.
I believe we do need to change our starting line up and indeed Warbs alluded to that in the pre-match interview. All I am saying is that I can understand why he started with the same 11 after four straight wins.

I think this shows the fine lines in this division...like us, they've got a couple of decent players in Gordon and Potts and up front they've got a Dykes in ched Evans.... Totally agree about changing it up with the starting 11 though.

Let's see what he does on Saturday. Definitely a case for changes Saturday but this is a winnable match so don't throw it away. I can't see him changing defence and I bet he puts Dykes in with Bonne to bring Charlie on if we need him. I'd rather Albert instead of Dykes but that's not going to happen. Questions for me are Ball and Chair. Ball hasn't played well for a few weeks and Chair shows how statistics can be misleading. Willock and Field for me. May swap wingbacks if we are going well.

Willock in a 3-5-2 behind chazza and chair.
We haven't got any other functioning strikers, let's not pretend, play chair up top off chaz. He's an old skool no 8. but he's stuck in the closet.
Buy him an eight ball or some hookers or whatever every time he scores or assists. Can we run to that?

I have reservations about Chair as a striker, he's too hesitant. Always an extra touch which often loses the initiative. Would he be clinical enough?

Also, we've brought into the club Dykes, Kelman, Bonne, Austin, even Adomah but we're talking about playing a makeshift striker? Something not right there.

Dykes looks shot away and needs time to get some confidence back. For me Kelman just isn't ready and Bonne is all over the shop. Right now, none of those three are really fit for purpose. AA is one of the very few in the entire squad who can cross it, we need him wide. That leaves Chair. Playing him alongside Chaz has the additional benefit of eliminating his sideways / backwards tendency, things would become simpler for him. It also frees up an AMF slot. For all his shortcomings he's a better footballer and has more potential up top than any of the aforementioned. Just a thought.

Bonne deserves some game time.

Sounds good Hal, but how do you fit AA out wide into a 3-5-2 formation with WBs? The system that's worked so well for the last couple of months.

Sounds good Hal, but how do you fit AA out wide into a 5-3-2 formation with WBs? The system that's worked so well for the last couple of months. 3-5-2 (or 5-3-2 ball lost) only works with him as bench. He's another candidate who may not have 90 in him anyway. I think completely forgetting about the three strikers mentioned, moving Chair up and starting Willock makes enough sense to justify it as an experiment, if not now then when we're mathematically safe.
