With a dozen or so games to go, what are your Championship promotion and relegation predictions?
Just for kicks I'll give everyone a week to post, then might be interesting to return to this thread in May to see who was closest.

Naarich a shoe in now. My cousin is a ST holder there and when they got promoted he told me it was never in their plans to go up until the following season so they decided to spend nothing, probably get relegated but bank the money and go back up. Exactly what we are seeing and why they stuck with the manager. I expect we may see Sheff Utd do the same.
Watford are on a good run and may get autos (wishful thinking over Brentford who look a better team to be fair but may bottle it again)
Barnsley amazingly may have enough. They seem to have a working plan and if they don't run out of fitness/legs (like Leeds did a couple of times) they may sneak the playoffs.
Relegation
Wycombe
Sheff Wed (who looked to have turned a corner but are on a terrible run now.
Hard to call this but I am going Brum. Still not sure how they beat us as we looked comfortable at one nil. They looked pretty bad to me and although Rotherham are on a bad run I feel they do have more goals in them and with the games in hand could just scrape safe.

And with the money promotion relagation cycles generate these days it's a brilliant business plan. You can't get there with zilch investment but you can get there with sane investment and a decent manager. No one gives a fuck if you come straight back down because the money is in the bank, you have a chance of going back up, while everyone else at this level is at poundstretcher. It's far more sustainable model than staying where we are and fantasising that our fabled academy production is somehow going to lay the golden eggs.... yeah right. |
