The board don’t need to spend much if anything on transfer fees to get the squad depth and competitiveness to push for a play-off place, it’s whether they are willing to increase the wage bill?

If QPR has the 6th lowest wage bill in the Champs, what is Barnsley's?

If QPR has the 6th lowest wage bill in the Champs, what is Barnsley's? I’ve no idea, does Barnsley have a smaller wage bill than QPR? There is the possibility of reconfiguring the wages, for example if Cameron goes then that will release wages, But if Johansen, Austin etc are kept and new signings added, I’d imagine the wage bill will need to increase.

I’ve no idea, does Barnsley have a smaller wage bill than QPR? Coincidentally I just found out. It's even lower than ours - theirs is the 3rd lowest in the league. Just proving what can be achieved with a low budget but the right type of recruitment, management and coaching. It has to be the model and the inspiration.

Fair play to Barnsley, it’s always good to see clubs that are successful without buying their success

We need both those players alan They are integral to what we are trying to acheive What about a midfield 3 of Field, Amos and Carroll? I’d prefer Johansen in for Carroll but that’s not a bad combination. Based on wages and contract, reckon Austin is more likely than Johansen but I’d rather the Fulham lad.

What about a midfield 3 of Field, Amos and Carroll? Looks good to me but keep in mind in his current system there'd only be room for two of those.

Two things there James, only my opinion, it's the second serious knee for Amos - will he be the same, will he last? Secondly, I was no fan of Carroll then I came round to agreeing with Stan that he had a place in the team but, having seen Johansen I've gone back to thinking that Carroll slows us down and doesn't make things happen. All very well showing for the ball and keeping possession but Johansen doesn't just play across the field he gets it moving forward. That's why I've posted if we could only keep one loan it would be him. I'm concerned it won't be.

However, I thought he did well this season. Don’t get me wrong Johansen and Field would be my first choice with Chair and Amos rotating as the other player. However, can’t see us signing Johansen. Other option would be Amos and Field? But as you say Amos may not come back from last injury.

Feel sorry for Amos. My Spurs relatives say he was a much better bet than that guy at Norwich - Skipp? - before injury.

rscot we've been linked with ryan porteous of hibs, any good? He’s got potential, he’s a decent CB, but I think you’d be paying a few million £ for him, Hibs are in a decent financial position (as far as I’m aware). He probably needs to make the step up to a Championship team about now, and he’ll probably be a good player at this level in a season or two. But I think there’s probably better value out there and if QPR are looking to be pushing for a play off place, he doesn’t really fit the profile of the type of player I’d be looking for at this moment. I’d be looking at bringing in someone with more physicality and experience for the slot between Barbet and Dickie. If I’d be looking at anyone at Hibs it would be Josh Doig, young left-back / wing back, but again he’d cost you a few million £ and is only 18/19, so will be a work in progress for a couple of seasons, but he has the potential to be at least as good as Lee Wallace and most probably better when he matures. Declan Gallagher (free transfer) and Shaun Rooney ( probably £300-400,000) would be the 2 I’d be looking at if I were QPR.

I think a right wing-back is the minimum needed. And I’d like to see another CB. The squad is lean and 2-3 players to strengthen and add depth would be ideal.

Ramkilde will go Stan. Dunno if it's injuries or attitude, but that roll of the dice hasn't worked. Don't think he'll ever realise the potential he had as a youngster. I also suspect Kelman will go out on loan. He's looked overoared by the 1st team, probably needs to head out to a League 1 side for 6 months.
Have you seen Eze's brother play at all? Meant to be quite handy.
I reckon we will need to sign another striker in the summer, even if Charlie is staying. Bonne looks totally out of his depth for me. Runs around like a headless chicken, makes daft decisions, and needs 4 or 5 chances to score. Washington mk 2.

Have you seen Eze's brother play at all? Meant to be quite handy. If he's inherited even half his genes I'm sure he is mate! Was watching this today coincidentally. It's his close ball control (and strength) that's just so mesmerising, and obviously the goals:

I think this season proved that whats needed is investment in the squad if we're going to build on what's been a very good second half of the season. But only if that investment means we're not spending more than we should be and aren't getting ourselves into trouble again.

With careful diligence for next season u cold build a very strong squad from all the released players out there. They not going to get loads of offers in current climate so have to curtail their demands if they want a club.

But we kept Bettache as well, right? I don't quite understand the logic of some of these decisions, its like we're overloaded with cover in some areas and threadbare in others. In general we seem to be hanging on to one or two questionable ones, which might mean that there's less ambition in the boardroom than we'd hoped. We'll see. where are we "threadbare"? Don't remember any game last season where we had to play anyone out of position. I guess he's referring to the WB positions. Not quite 'threadbare', but the main area we lack strength in depth.
