Would be interesting to see this chart with the wage bill offset against it. I suspect we might actually come out on top.

People will still spout the evil Les bullshit but everyone in control Of running the club needs massive kudos for the last couple of years. We are no longer a basket case of a club and the good times will Return. They’ve done so well to recover from the mess that the likes of Hughes/redknapp and certain board members created.

Think this is where we have improved but still work to be done. Your never going make money back on everyone but when you spend 46mil on players and get nothing back on any of them is crazy. Remember when people pointed at Mel Morris as good owner 😳 they got that wrong

Really scary thing is the EFL.
For some clubs pre season kicks in next week, but unbelievably the relegation / promotion scenario has not been resolved.
Latest I heard was that Wycombe were taking legal action, lets hope the incompetent fuckers running the EFL end up with a bleeding arse.

They have been fined for not putting the player costs through correctly. Now, they have to put them through the same way as everyone else and then when they do, that's when they will be fined for breaching ffp.

How can that be right and fair if true? Needs to be stopped before they’re all at it and big clubs will end up choosing who gets promoted.

Needs to be stopped before they’re all at it and big clubs will end up choosing who gets promoted. most transfers happen in a similar way, very rarely is the fee all up front. you'll pay 10m for a player over 3 years for example. could be structured in many different ways too

But that’s no money at all until following year to circumnavigate the rules that’s wrong. If there not paying anything at all up front if I was league I would not allow registration or say it’s a loan

They would have to follow basic Accounting Rules though. If there is a 3 year contract to pay out say £6m for a player then you have to accrue £2m a year if you pay it at the end and you would 'prepay' £4m of it if you had paid it up front. They are just timing differences as far as their accounts are concerned and there is an annual cost of £2m either way. The only difference would be your bank account would be healthier for three years.

It's failure to adhere to generally accepted accounting practises that have landed Derby in the brown stuff recently.

Derby weren't showing depreciations in a linear way like every other team were. As long as Fulham show him depreciating at a normal rate then they'll be fine. Not much difference with them paying £0 now, £5m next year and then £10m the year after, rather than £10m now, £5m next and then it's paid off. All the same amount of money. If they don't go up then they'll realy struggle as their income reduces and so on. It's just another way of these clubs gambling on going up.

It's more of a surprise that Liverpool agreed to it, as it means that their FFP for Europe is also a bit out of wack.
Maybe they knew that getting that much for Wilson was too good to turn down, as he isn't worth that.

FFP needs to be scrapped. It is fundamentally unworkable.
All it has ever done is re-enforce the status quo.
A much better model would be a rigorous fit and proper persons test and some due diligence by the authorities. The bar needs to be set way higher.

There are many ways of avoiding sanctions as everyone knows. I don't think FFP is inherently right or fair in itself. It would be really interesting to look at the track record since FFP started in this country ie how many clubs went out of business in the ten years before vs after. What exactly has it achieved beyond cementing the existing power structure? The problems FFP sort to address were / are the legacy of owners whose ambition outweighed their financial sense. If you want to resolve all this you have to start by re-defining fit and proper persons. And then applying it.
