We have done a Brentford and started a B team. I don't 100% understand the difference between a B team and an under 23 team, seeing as the B team will mainly be under 23s? Or is it so that we can have more over 23 (only 3 in an under 23 game I believe) playing.
Brentford don't have any youth players so that's where we differ slightly.

QPR can today (Tuesday) confirm that we will formally launch a B Team fixture programme for the 2021/22 season.
The bespoke programme will see the B Team play against a range of EFL, non-league & European clubs, as well as other B teams.
The initiative has been launched in an attempt to expedite the pathway of academy players to the first team and to provide competitive experiences for first-team players who are in need of match minutes.
The club will continue to participate in the U23 Professional Development League and have also entered into the Premier League U23 Cup.
Les Ferdinand, QPR director of football, said: “When I was first appointed, the owners made it clear that a key component of their vision was to increase the number of young players making the transition from our academy to the first team. We are extremely satisfied with the progress made on that front and we see this project as a way to build on that success.
“The games will provide our young players with more of a first-team experience, playing against senior teams in a competitive environment. We feel that these experiences form a vital part of their development.
“We will also utilise the games to ensure that selected first-team players have an opportunity to remain in the best physical condition possible when called upon by Mark [Warburton] and his staff.”
The club have reached agreement with Wealdstone FC to play fixtures at their stadium, Grosvenor Vale, and this will provide R’s fans with an opportunity to see the B Team in action.
The flexible fixture programme will be organised to compliment the first-team schedule and further details will be shared via our media channels in due course.

It's effectively the return of the Reserve team - which we should never have got rid off in my opinion - and will allow younger players the chance to regularly play against older and seasoned players, out of favour/form 1st team players to play more regularly than they do now without the need to be sent out The loan and the fixtures against continental sides will allow us as a club to be exposed to different tactics and styles of play. Brentford developing a B squad was an essential part of their success in recent years.

it's a good idea. the problem with u23's is they only get to really play other u23 squads.
the B team will play against men's sides which is only a good thing. playing against bromley fc for example is better for a players development than other u23's simply because bromley's side will be full of experienced older players with 200+ career appearences

Another thing to consider is that although we have done very well - not remarkably well, though - over the last few years with youngsters coming through the youth system, only the very best players are being offered contracts. There's no doubt that some players were passed over because they didn't develop quickly enough and the exposure to older players will help change this and we'll see more youngsters brought into the 1st team.

It's essentially the return of the old Football Combination which should never have been scrapped in the first place. It worked perfectly. Again, we can blame the elitist EPL for that.
If it ain’t broke don’t farking fix it!

Exactly Stanley. Can anyone name one thing the football authorities have done since the arrival of Sky that has improved the game? Other than three subs from seven?

Back pass and three points for a win predate the PL.

QPR FC were actually one of the 12 founder members of The Football Combination back in 1915, so we have strong historical ties to it.

When did we start this 'suggested donation' for non 1st team fixtures at Loftus Road rather than all Season Ticket holders being given free entry?

Echo Bill’s comment but if this means we will work with our young players instead of shipping them out on loan great. Just hope we get good at it. Old quote by the looks of it though?
