I know that Birch speaks to Tony Fernandes a lot. I'd be surprised if he's seriously in the running for the job permanently though.

Just when you think these idiots cannot shock you anymore they roll out the face of Greggs the bakers. What an absolute shower the lot of them. Sorry that is one appointment that cannot be supported in any shape or form.

Sorry that is one appointment that cannot be supported in any shape or form. No harm in interviewing the guy. Bircham is still very close to the club, if he's applied then it's common courtesy to give him an hour of Les and Hoos' time. I just hope we aren't seriously considering him. He is nowhere near qualified for the job.

Him having an interview confirms they have no specific target which is unreal considering we got rid of Mc last week. Should be suprised by their incompetence by now but Fernandes and co always have a joker up their sleeve.

I've run a few companies, and if a mate of a mate or someone I knew applied for a job, I'd interview them out of courtesy, even if I knew they'd be shit. As I say, this is only a worry if they actually think Bircham is a good shout.

Sorry Tarbie. An interviee should only take place if the person in question is qualified to do the job. Also where was Bircham's last job? He is being interviewd by his boss of the previous 2 years or so? Seems a total waste of time to me.

Might well be a waste of time mate.
Missing the point though. Bircham is still very close to the club, and I know for a fact he still speaks to some of the Directors/Owners regularly. If he's shown an interest in the role its courtesy to give him and hour or 2 of your time to come in for an interview.
And I suspect that is all this is. I very much doubt we are considering him as a genuine option.

Tarbie, the voice of reason here. Sometimes you need to interview people to go through due process.

Not missing any point Tarbie, Bircham was an employee up to last May/June so do not see the point in any interview as he was assistant to a manager who was sacked. As for being close to the club would expect no different as a close buddy of the owner. Interview or not he should be allowed anywhere the managers job in a interview process or any other capacity.

So if your Les and Tony calls up and says "Bircham has been in my ear about the managers job. Do me a favour and give him an hour of your time." You saying you wouldn't?

No I would not and that is based on him being assistant to the previous manager who was sacked. They know what he can do and if I am not mistaken Fernandes courted him last time to join his circus. So no point in an interview less than 12 months since he left. 3 or 4 years maybe as he may have gained more experience and knowledge.

Fair enough mate.
All I'm saying is that in my experience, small gestures like this are made in every walk of life. Easier and more respectful to give Birch an hour of Les' time and say "sorry we met someone better" than to reject him out of hand.
Just been chatting with Westy and he made a good point. Perhaps Birch is a better option that Eustace for the next 6 games. Could be considering him as a stop gap til the end of the season.

Fermandes is a better option than Eustace judging by Saturday. All about opinions and Birch is an absolute no for me in any shape or form.

Almost sent me to sleep in his press conference. Selection and tactics were shite too. Hopefully we have someone else sorted by the weekend. Agree with your earlier point by the way. Should never have binned McClaren so hasty if we didn't have a few potential replacements in mind. And where's Ramsey? Much better option as caretaker than Eustace.

Tarbie, the voice of reason here. Sometimes you need to interview people to go through due process. like the Rooney rule but for pie eaters 😂 For five games to gee them up this could work I can see the logic. Long term perhaps not but if it’s mr boring I cannot stimulate my cock Eustace for five games or Birch I know who I would rather be in dug out If it goes wrong what about Bismarck as nickname that sunk too!!!

As low as 5-2 from 20-1 last night to be the new manager. Any truth in them seriously considering giving him the job full time?

He popped into the pub before the Bolton game. Looked well on the way to becoming Steve Evans.

I saw him on soccer AM a couple of weeks ago and the set moved quicker than him. He was decked out in the Rangers training kit as well.
